US: Decision-making on India insulated from bureaucracy

Lol, you still use child labor, you still have the largest number of slaves in the world. WTF are you talking about?? What country are you living in?? We didn't allow anyone to get nukes. Given a choice, no one but us would have them. The quotation marks was because of your contention that we allowed Pakistan to get nukes. We allowed them as much as we allowed you. By the way, why shouldn't they have it? You have it, why not them?

Your diplomat wasn't a "proper" diplomat until she got arrested. If she didn't want to get arrested and strip searched, she should paid her maid fair wages and not taken her passport away. Obviously, you're ok with slave labor in the 21st century, but we're not. The sad thing about this whole incident is that you Indians are offended by the strip search but not by this woman paying someone below minimum wage and pretty much holding them hostage by withholding their passport.

If we're a diminishing power, what are you? If we're a has-been, you're a never-was. So why don't you worry about feeding you 1.2 billion population rather than our diminishing power or slipping foothold

Please explain how - BTW you allowed Iran to go nuclear as well?

.
When the time comes to go war with China??,When is that time exactly coming? :D

Oh it will come. With Oil prices changing, the Chinese gaining more influence and the Japanese, Vietnamese and Philippines (just a few examples), getting fed up with the Chinese harassment, it is bound to happen. WWIII is a real phenomena actually.

I added a few more lines to that post, which you may not have seen. My only point is that USA has no right to talk unfavourably about other countries sponsoring insurgencies. For every insurgency that Russia or India have sponsored, USA has sponsored many, and continues to do so.

Bud, you need to read your countryman's posts. I didn't say thing about insurgencies till he started playing holier than thou with me. Got a problem? Take it up with him.

How did US "allowed" India or any other country for that matter like Iran to go nuclear?

Oh wtf!! Can't you just read the posts? Your countryman contends that we allowed Pakistan to get nukes, my response was we "allowed" them as much as we "allowed" India or China or Russia to get nukes.

...and you are still the largest buyers of good made from child labor. We have the largest number of poor people in the world, not forced slavery like what you used to have. Slaver was and IS illegal in India unlike the US which provided Legal cover that made purchase and sale of slaves a profitable industry. You are the one to talk. LOL.

You covertly support pakistan Nukes by providing billions of $ in aid, without which they would have become a failed state with NO nukes. Pakistan has Nukes BECAUSE of US, India has Nukes IN SPITE of US. The distinction is very clear. Same goes for Israel.

Our diplomat entered the US as a proper diplomat. Nothing changed. She did pay her maid fair wages as per Indian law since both of them were INDIAN Citizens.

LOL at your "moral outrage" over illegal slavery  You might be ok with state sanctioned strip search and rape of diplomats in the 21st century, we are not. Why are the citizens of US embassy in India not paying their maids US salary ? ....... where is your "moral outrage" then ? :P Where is your moral outrage when US citizens commit murder on foreign soil and then claim diplomatic immunity even when they were NOT diplomats ?

You may be ok with condoning MURDER in the 21st century, we are not. But I do not fee too sad about this. Its expected behaviour from a Nation renowned for owning slaves and treating coloured folks like second class citizens.

GOLD still remains the GLOBAL STANDARD for hoarding wealth because INDIA set the standards much before your country or civilization was born. So we are a much better Has been than you ever will be.

Better worry about how those US soldiers will come back home without being slaughtered by the same people who you pay Billions of $'s of protection money.

It was lord Manvan who claimed that US "allowed" Pakistan to become nuclear. By that standard, US also "allowed" us.

Sorry! I didn't read his posts. Anyways its better to ignore then.

And ladies and gentlemen, this is EXACTLY the mindset that I've been writing about. I think we are making a mistake by going so far out for India and giving them EVERYTHING. When the times comes to go to war with China, India is going to give us the middle finger and will side by China as they are neighbors and two largest markets. We are just growing India not realizing they are just looking at India. Not the US and India as one team!
1) US and China are unlikely to go to war. That would end both countries, and probably a few others as well.
2) India will never side with or against the US or any other country in their wars. India has always maintained neutrality, and that will not change. India's policy always has been, and will be, 'friendship with all, alliances with none.'

Everything that got you to where India is today ....IS because of the US. What was India in 1995???? The BMW's were only visible on TV and Calendars as one example. The US outsourced a big part of its own economy to bring India's middle class as Mr. Rao and Mr. Singh used to beg the US to support their country so it can help the US against the Chinese. Now that you have come up a lot, you'll tell me the US didn't do anything for you??? Sad!

The above post of yours, shows me how thankless you are. That's sad.

I hope you really don't believe this because if you do (and thankfully that opinion is not representative of what the U.S. administration thinks), we would have nowhere to go but down.

You are a modern day Confucius .

IS wants to contain China.. Let's not kid ourself on that one.

It is standard practice among diplomats of most not-so-rich nations. The President of India does not earn as much as the maid would have to be paid, if standard wages were paid. The salary of the President, the highest paid govt employe, is about $2,400 per month.

Minimum wage laws exist to ensure a minimum standard of living. The maid in question was living a much better life than any American on minimum wage, because all her boarding, medical, travel, clothing expenses were paid by the govt of India, and also her children's education. She wouldn't have to spend a penny to lead a good life.

Do you think any diplomat pays their maids a salary higher than they themselves earn?

Anyway the DK issue has been argued to death, I request everybody not to derail this thread with it.
