US B-52 bombers fly near Chinese made islands in South China Sea

The Chinese foreign ministry said what Lassen did was illegal, so according to them the Lassen have already infringed on China’s rights. Whatever “outcome” you are talking about, it surely did not prevented the US from doing what china considered as illegal. And the US said they will continue doing it again.
Show me the source. We said that was a clear provocative act.

This will make China spend more on military and buildup its military even faster. China will become even more assertive as pro-military hawks are proven their views are correct and they gain more influence in the CPC.

China escorting US ships shows China is not going to back down to anyone like in 1996 Taiwan crisis. Countries in Asia thought that all you need to do for China to back down is for the US to step in and China will eventually back down. But PLAN sending ships to escort US ships when it entered within 12nm shows not even the US military can get China to back down. China deployed J-11 fighter jets to those islands.

This is actually bad news for Vietnam, Philippines, Japan and other mickey mouse countries.

China is in no mood to back down even to the US military and in China's backyard, not even the US military can take on China in an all out war. As China's military power grows, the greatest effect will be felt in China's SCS.
well, we will see. I expect the US will continue to increase presence and provocations. until you lose nerve and shoot down US aircraft killling the crew. that is exactly what the US hardcore necons want, a causus belli to start the war against China. as for mickey mouses, we will sit down, taking popcorn and enjoy the show. sure, nobody hinders you to step up the arms race.

Again, show me the official word or quote not the interpretation.

Sure my friend, these quotes are straight from the PRC foreign ministry’s website:

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang's Regular Press Conference on October 27, 2015

Q: It is reported that the USS Lassen sailed within 12 nautical miles off Zhubi Reef of the Nansha Islands on October 27. What is China's comment on that? What have the relevant Chinese authorities done in response?

A: The Chinese Foreign Ministry has released a statement on that at noon.

The USS Lassen illegally entered waters near relevant islands and reefs of China's Nansha Islands without the permission of the Chinese government on October 27. Relevant authorities of the Chinese side monitored, followed and warned the US vessel. Relevant actions by the US naval vessel threatened China's sovereignty and security interests, put the personnel and facilities on the islands and reefs at risk and endangered regional peace and stability. The Chinese side hereby expresses strong opposition.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi also issued a solemn warning to the American side this morning when answering a journalist's question, urging the US not to stir up troubles...

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang's Regular Press Conference on October 28, 2015

Q: You said yesterday that what the US has done is illegal. Is that the position of your own or the Chinese side?

A: We have said time and again that the Chinese side has indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands and their adjacent waters. The US naval vessel's unauthorized entry into waters off relevant islands and reefs is a severe political provocation against China which seriously threatens China's sovereignty and security, and jeopardizes the safety of personnel and facilities on the islands and reefs. What the US has done violates the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and other international law as well as relevant domestic law of China.

Those are are official words from the Foreign ministry, not interpretation by western source, etc.

You got this all wrong, it is China that is sending a clear message to the US. The message is that those islands will be built, those islands will be militarised and once the military facilities on those islands are complete, China will escort US naval and air assets and extend China's military reach.

True, according China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, they can produce 100 space rockets annually as a single company.

Look like that China needs to produce 100 ICBMs per year.

.
They only send in B 52 to deter China? I thought China was very high tech. Maybe I was wrong about China's inflated ego.

. .
It wasnt to deter China. The US deliberately used a large old aircraft that would get the attention of the radar crew, to see how China would react.

US knew how advance the Chinese are. So they play low tech. It was just enough to get their attention. :smart:

To provoke the current China into a war is not a good idea, even for those most hawkish neocons.

It is all about the proxy war, the US only wants to obstruct China's one belt one road plan.

Also don't forget the currency warfare.

The US responded by saying it was an innocent passage. According to International Law, you can trespass territorial water as long as it is an innocent passage which US official stated so this illegal is simply a misword of misunderstanding between the two parties.

You don't get it.

China will not shoot anything to give a reason for the US to destroy those islands. China will just escort the ships and aircraft as if it neared the mainland itself.

The current situation works perfectly for China.

China militarises those islands which allows China to station its military assets on those islands thus extending the reach of the Chinese military. US will patrol to save face to its allies and show its domestic audience its still influential, China will escort and send strong diplomatic statements to show China is unhappy to please the domestic audience, but the bottomline is those islands will be militarised to hold Chinese military assets which significantly extends the reach of the Chinese military.

As long as China militaries those islands, China is winning this game. Because once its militarised and hold PLA assets, if the US military destroys them, that will be an act of war against China. The last thing the US wants is a war with a powerful military like the PLA. The US is caught between a rock and a hard place. China has checkmated the US. You don't even realise.

Of course it was legal, even the PLAN’s passage near US territories was not illegal, that is why the US never officially declared that the PLAN was violating any laws.

However, it is clear that China considered what the US did was illegal. The Chinese foreign ministry clearly said it was so on two different occasions. There is no misunderstanding on that, the official PRC FM website explicitly said it was illegal and that the US had violated both international and domestic Chinese law. Those were the words straight from the PRC foreign ministry, not from a third party.
