What's new

Upgrade of Pakistans Bell AH-1F Cobra helicopters

.
atleast i found the link on wikipedia that pakistani cobras AH1-F are able to fire baktar shikan missile

a vedio is also there on youtube, it is the same one i saw on PTV long time ago!

Still TOW is a superior missile to BS. There are many improved versions of misslies are now with Pakistan. Its better to use TOW then BS

.
sargent rehan thanks for that. I think it would be a cheaper alternative what do you guys think?

.
First of all the cost and then all the rest like: TOT, infrastructure, weapons, personal training and if Russian will sold it to Pakistan, i think there wouldn't any prolem for them since we will give them lot of bucks not like US which will never give us state of the art weapons!

.
Malaymishra123:) Ask Israel why does it need gunships when it has tanks and guns out there already pointed at Palestinians.. you have reached General's rank you still don't know the use of Helos...tell US forces to take back Helos back to US from Afghanistan Guns and tanks can do alone..you should read twice what Blain2 Wrote for ur understanding..

But I have to say you are very much right when it comes to TOT it would be a lot of work.

Agreed sir, but here is a point.
Each TOW missile comes ina a specialized container, and having a shelf life of 10-12 years. After that, precision of the missile cannot be assured. There may be many problemassociated with missiles retrieved from old stores. The missile may become a dud, after launch, its ejector/flight motor may malfunction, control surfaces may malfunction, infrared beacon may be faulty, so thet missile cannot be guided correctly.
I think most of the TOWs were received in 80s, and i doubt, Pakistan has the capabilty to relife the missile in its container (it may require to be sent to USA)
BS are produced here, but lets use dubious TOWs first (until USA has not provided a new lot). Lets not save TOWs whose reliabilty is unsure, for a rainy day, when faced with an armoured attack. Save BS for that. For low priority targets/low intensity targets, like hitting Taliban vehicles, bunkers, houses, use old TOWs.

turkey might come up with t129
iran has an inhouse production of a cobra varient.. although an older version

Nice interesting informations dude!:)

i really like this bird, it's among the world best and most fearable heliz! and it can also carry troops about 8 so also good for SSG operation's (maybe).

If Pak Army have enough budget then it's an excellent purchase....obviously it will take some time to train pilots and ground personal, tecnicians etc but it's a good machine.:enjoy:

.
Jut wait for upgraded Cobras and some new ones and also lets hope Turkish Helo is ready in next 3 years so should Pak Army orders it for our next generation Gunships..

.
Thanks again Sargente for your comments.
I think that luftwaffe brought up a good point, lets wait and see what happens I just hope it comes to a good out come.

The only reason I worry is that US might mess up again like they did in the past but this time go as far as attacking us to the point where we might end in a war with the US. This would be most unfortunate.

And if things dont work out we can turn to Russia. India has just dropped them out of a 1 billion dollar and is going more tawords the west so maybe we can work something out with them.

it is normal practice to "re-life" all missiles in army/airforce/navy inventories - they are sent to the supplier country for the upgrade - for half the cost of a new one in general!:enjoy:

.
If relifing of TOW missiles is done, thats great,
But why to send these missiles to USA, as they may always retain a particular lot, on some pretext or the other.

BS is locally produced by KRL, why not TOWs are sent to KRL and they do the relifing.

.
Well we are not gona be able to get the apaches ! wat one wants and wat one can get is two different things ! we need these upgrades perhaps more cobra's and should look in to some other source for attack gunship lets see where the future takes us.
