Modern age? Just happened to be Armenian armed forces are poorly equipped and ill prepared.
Just like how ISIS are helpless against Iraqi government drone.
I honestly don't think that's right.
Aside from the fact that Armenians deeply entrenched themselves over the almost 30 years of occupation they also had a plethora of sophisticated/modern air defence systems.
Why a lot of people are now blaming Armenia on its lack of preparedness, etc... is because of how this war played out. Everyone is automatically assuming that they were ill prepared when it's the opposite, I think Turkey is just that good and it wasn't even them fighting.
Yeah, Armenia may not have had the latest S-400 but what they did have, that included the modern S-300, should have easily been able to take down the Azeri's minuscule drone fleet.
So why weren't they able to?
Remember this wasn't just in Armenia they've done this earlier in Libya and Syria against the Syrian army.
My personal view is that the way that Azeri operated Turkish drones decimated the Armenian army, and how quickly they did it, has caused a lot of concern in Western circles because you can't be scrambling fighter jets 24/7 to deal with them and it increasingly appears air defence systems may not work the way they're intended either.
Would this work against larger, better armed/trained armies? No, I don't think Turkey or anyone else ever claimed that to be the case.
However, are drones becoming an increasingly important part of a modern military arsenal? Yes.
Turkey has likely mastered drone swarm tech and the art of drone warfare at least as far as you can in current times and they'll only get better at it. Turkey is developing a fleet of new drones as well as upgrades to existing ones which will only make them more lethal.
