Many arrested protester claim they dont mind being jailed as they have no place they called home.

This crisis was complicated and involved with the foreign powers, powerful HK local elites and Taiwan. Most of the frontlines rioters are pro independent. Housing problem was just one of the triggers. I don't want to say too much about the chinese strategy here, just pay attention to what CCP is doing right now.

I forgot to reply this to you. They support the riots as the beginning to against the new housing plan but just the rioters are out of their control. Also they miscalculated that CCP will be surrendered due to overestimate the importance of HK to China. Now they have no choice but to keep fighting, you should search the speeches from our richest man to have some understanding.

Thanks, that sure shone a new light on the true nature of the rioters. TBH I don't have any ground source at HK thus I couldn't interpret what really happen there (I don't trust the medias)

As my previous post stated, there are foreign power (mainly USA), HK real estate elites and Taiwan, where all of them have different agenda and goals. As the beginning, they all worked separately but they are now all united and under the US command. The canon fodders (soldiers with full gears) are pro HK independent, rumors say there are about 1000 people and they are not all HK people. The supervisors who appear in riots with picture evidences show they are white foreigners where they were either giving command or just quietly observing.
