No idea how Pakistan can stand with CCP China now. Before, the CCP government was pretty much hands off on daily life of the Uyghurs in the past decades. Some tight control but typical level. The Uyghurs didn't complain so much. But then as China began to industrialize in the 1990s and into the 2000s, industrial projects started invading Uyghur lands, and then the CCP started moving more Chinese people in the area, and started cracking down on any Uyghurs unhappy with all the new industrialization. Surveillance went up. Stamping down on islamic features increased. Some Uyghurs became radicalized as a result and carried out knife attacks. CCP double down on control, and now are literally sinicizing them.
The rate of murder and rape is at the averge level anyway. Rather, actually its quite lower probably.

Okinawans have more freedom than Chinese in PRC. Taiwanese have more freedom than Chinese in PRC. But sadly, Uyghurs have less freedom than even Chinese in PRC.
