There should be a Monk fuelled Power plant in Tibet..That way the Burning monks can put themselves for some use,as Tibet people will get electricity..

they already have electricity, but thats a good idea, we should export to those none electricity poor indian families

its all about cultural independence... Kashmir and Tibet issue are rather same..the only difference is MONK are not stoning CCP like so called peaceful protesters in Kashmir.

Ummm.. One question to people who say "Oh no monks setting themselves on fire. It is all China's fault"......WTF??

I do not see how China is responsible for people taking their own lives. Now if I set myself on fire screaming "My parents don't give me a good allowance " Everyone starts blaming my parents??

I say give Psychiatric counciling to all these monks they look like they need it.

To be honest, I recognize that self-immolation is a method of political protest. I am aware that someone going as far as killing themselves in such a manner means their situation is desperate.

But after some due consider, the conclusion is still that these self-immolating monks are killing themselves for no good reason. They are very upset about Han Chinese entering areas that traditionally did not have many Han Chinese minority residents. They feel that an influx of Han Chinese changes the local culture and destroys or at least changes traditional Tibetan Buddhism.

This is true -- there is change -- but ultimately it is justifiable because most of the change is inevitable due to technological and economic progress. The alternative -- strictly preserving traditional Tibetan areas and restricting Han Chinese settlement -- is totally at odds with national interests and not acceptable.

The fact is, when Tibet joined China in 1724, its fate was sealed. Its territory no longer belonged to ethnic Tibetans only, but all Chinese. It's just that 300 hundred years ago, technology was insufficient to comfortably develop and settle Tibet. Now, modernity is coming to Tibet, along with Han Chinese.

In conclusion, the self-immolating monks are sympathetic -- they truly believe in their cause. But ultimately their cause is futile. Luddites lost their battle with machines and these monks will also lose the battle against the modernization of Tibet, for the greater good of China as a whole.
