Pashtuns have adopted the Khan title from Turk Sultans of Delhi , Mughal rulers of India also gave Khan title to their mansabdars including Pashtuns.....not from early Mongol invaders of 13th century. Most of the characters with last name Khan that appear in Indian history , are actually non-Pashtuns. Even converts from Hinduism had Khan titles e.g Khusro Khan. Within Pakistan itself, Balochs like Pashtuns, have also middle name of Khan e.g Zafrullah Khan Jamali, Ataullah Khan Mengal. Some Punjabi clans also uses Khan title.
