I have been wondering, wouldn't it be possible for a certain country to reverse engineer Sidewinder with new seeker, and electronics? Wouldn't it be much cheaper than making a missile from scratch?

You could reuse rear fins, rocket motor, and warhead but it would need new seeker, fins, and fuzing.

Half of this stuff can be bought of Ebay.

Imagine the scene: Jet powered AI-enabled UCAVs loaded with longer range AAMs which takes off from TCG-XX LHDs raid on enemy fighters. All Turkish engineering.

You can buy the wheels, seats, chasis even engine but turning them into a racing car is another level.

I agree, but if say the UAE wanted to manufacture a similar missile to Bozdogan it would need help. Obvious choice for electronics would be Ukraine, or South Africa because UAE lacks ability to make a seeker in a short period of time and both of these nations are not involved in MENA conflicts. UAE could reverse engineer most parts by itself for Sidewinder variants in service like Motor, Warhead, etc. UAE has the capability for missile production if it uses existing companies like Halcon Systems.

looks like tested from land based platform. so in future we can expect something like land based air defense system like AIM-120 based air defense system like Norway developed NASAMS . Congratulation .:-)
I don't think so, focus is on Hisar series and would be unnecessary.

Within the scope of GÖKTUĞ (Beyond Visual) missile family project, two different missile systems are being developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE. The short-range range air-to-air missile BOZDOĞAN (Merlin), which was successfully completed the first firing test, will replace the “AIM-9X Sidewinder” missiles in the future. The other missile GÖKDOĞAN (Peregrine) beyond visual range air-to-air missile is aimed to replace the “AIM-120 AMRAAM” missiles.

Developed as part of the GÖKTUĞ Project, the BOZDOĞAN missile is expected to enter the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces after the firing tests to be carried out in 2020. The GÖKTUĞ Project was initiated in 2013 to replace the missiles currently used by the Turkish Air Force with national systems.

Bozdoğan WVR and Gökdoğan BVR missiles at trials on F-16. Those missiles will cause a big trouble for enemies in Aegean and E. Med. Bozdoğan with national TVC control is highly maneuvrable missile which is going to make very sharp maneouvrings to chase the targets locating opposite side of airborne radar’s sight angle.
