Turkish President Arrives in Pakistan

Well there is secularism and there is secularism. After 4 decades of peddling religious bigotry in Pakistan, there is such a large percentage that has become intoxicated by mullahs - therefore for any outsider like Imran Khan (who was a sportsman) to enter politics on secular agenda would never get anywhere.

However IK's life has been about as secular as you can get. In 1980s I think he chased and scored every celebrity female from Hollywood to Royalty. He was always in thick of action and even married a Jewish billionaire's daughter Jemima Khan. But to get anywhere in conservative Pakistan you have to adapt to the local conditions. Your not going get far by being a party playboy.

I think he wrote that he was influenced by Ali Sheriati*. Does it mean he's not that "secular" but definitely more "enlightened"? IMHO, he could have reviewed his decision regarding joining the Pak parliament since it's the symbol of her singular sovereignty; while her enemies are brainwashing the folks that Pak is an artificial sate, so up for grabs. As for the aspiring politicians, going to the courts is fine, but instilling a verdict in the people's mind is what takes one to the highest office...

*Ali Sheriati is highly popular among the Turkish Islamists (with Ottoman tendencies). Nobody expected from an Iranian folk to say that the Muslim world had lost her patron with the collapse of the Ottoman empire.

What you guys think of the cancellation of visas of Pak-Turk schools staffs?
I find it wrong, actually.
Don't you think, there is a bond between teachers and students? And now in mid of their semester, their teachers are asked to leave?
It can impact their studies. No?
What Gulen has to do with these school systems?
Fine he is the CEO or whatever. But I don't find it a good decision of mr. President of Turkiye to ask to make them leave.

But one should know that they simply changed the staff. Is this really a problem?

Are u not happy with Erdogan's frequent visits to Pakistan? Why is it so? I get this feeling from your posts...How is it being anti nationalist? Sorry, if i misunderstood you.....We feel happy to host him, every time, as leader of our brotherly country...

Neptune has explained a bit but left some areas un-touched.

Mate, for nationalist Turks like me, Neptune and so many others, our ultimate dream is to establish Turan. Great Turkic state or Turkic States Union (Turkey, Azerbaijan, TRNC, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan). We know it's a very very distant dream but we would like to see some effort from the government.

Erdogan is accompanied by his wife Emine and a high-level entourage including ministers, senior officials, and members of the Turkish business community, Radio Pakistan reported.

The Turkish president is expected to hold meetings with President Mamnoon Hussain and PM Nawaz during his visit.

The exchange of views between the leaders will cover a range of bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.

He will also address a joint session of parliament on Thursday. The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf 'leadership' has decided to boycott Erdogan’s address saying the party will not attend a joint session held under a "controversial" prime minister facing charges of corruption.

This will be Erdogan's third address to a joint session of parliament in Pakistan, DawnNews reported.

The Turkish president is also expected to travel to Lahore, where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will host a banquet in the honour of visiting dignity at the Shahi Fort.
