Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

we must support our land troops with hawk or rapier missile in syria..they are mobile systems easy to care near of albab

It's foolish to send troops into war zone without air-cover. It shouldn't be too difficult for the Turks to shoot down a few jet fighters of the assad regime.

.
this whole excursion of turkish army into Syria is foolish to say the least...first the goal of operation is dubious and then the number of turkish soldiers there is not substantial enough to make a change

Goal is clear. Block YPG from covering our entire southern border and create a safe zone for refugees to return. Number of Turkish soldiers is low because This operation is not led by Turkish ground forces. Turkey is merely there to support FSA. As sending massess of Turkish soldiers will have a negative effect but I think we might have to send in more in the end.

If there is no retaliation for this, it just goes to show you how how cheap Turkish lives are.

the proclaimed goal is clear but its outcome is dubious because controlling that small fraction of the border doesnt change a lot on the ground...kurds are still smuggling weapons, explosives and men across the border

i'm not saying turkish intervention is unnecessary, just not this shy intervention

We were not attacking SAA. Our goal was to clear ISIS. But they deliberately attacked Turkish soldiers.

We should make mince meat out of SAA.

Us being in Syria goes directly against what Assad has said from the beginning, SAA in every corner of the country as legitimization that Syria still stands. Us going for Al Bab will give him headaches in the area + maybe near Aleppo.

Russia might be okay with our operation as a way of looking for a balanced status quo but Assad isn't. Don't think he's easy to reign in.

Also a lot of Russian troops operate with/near Syrian soldiers, hence that is their cover and why Turkey is probably cautious right now.

Imo, there are two options, we let it slide and retaliate other way or we go all out. Don't think AKP will go all out.

i am just curious will the territories taken by FSA be annexed by turkey ? or will the territories be given back to syria or will the territories for a new client province for turkey ?

They are not trying to bring entire Kurdish entity in Syria. What the they are trying to do is stop all 3 cantons from merging and covering entire border area. Entirely going againts Kurds is not a very good idea. If the cantons are divided they can't do much anyway.

It's true that Turkish blood is cheap thing...

It's very cheap since Ottoman Empire. Turks/Kurds must die on the battlefield for the sake of ummah and call 'em heros but armenians, greeks, especially jews, christians were/are privileged ones since Ottomans. This has never been changed...
