Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

SAA is Russia auxiliary army. Syria is Russia's colony. I think everyone is aware of this. Though not officially, Syria is part of Russia.

In the current world, small weak countries don't have sovereignty. Only a few super powers have sovereignty.

Colony?? More like a proxy to be honest russia is just getting resources and influence. It is said that russia does not mind assad going as long as its bases stay.

The attack failed due to Russia called off the attack. Russia was testing how well defended it will be. The Turks spared no time in doing artillery attacks which resulted in casualties for Assad.

Like I said, if and when the opportunity arises.

I don't understand why this fool is not banned until this day. His clearly spamming allover PDF why are the mods tolerating him is beyond me.

What are you talking about Rebels beaten back Assads advance.

Turkish artillery and intelligence support played a role in beating these attacks. Just for a skirmish the assad regime lost 40 soldiers this includes Igrc elements.

It seems now Turkey is not going to give it up. Also russia called off the attack because no advance could be done. shows us once again who calls the shots its Russia. Syrian army shpuld mainly be called proxy of russia. They are listening to russian orders rather than their own.

I agree with you. Russia occupies the red zone on the map and that is all the territory held by Assad comes under Russian rule. While in the Yellow areas belongs to the Americans and the Green belongs to Turkey and not to forget Turkey invaded Idlib in it's last offensive and now Idlib is under complete turkish controll for almost a year.

If Russia wants to take parts of Idlib it can only come via Turkish negotiation or allowance and vice versa and the same thing with Turkey if they want to go inside Kobane and Other territories they want to take it will come via Russian negotiation to avoid clashing with each other.

The offensive was called off because it could have started a much bigger war then needed which will force Turkey and Russia to fight and it's not worthy war for both.

They called off ground offensive but the daily air strikes and artillery barrages are killing lots of rebels. This puts more financial burden on Turkey which already has to provide millions of barrels of oil daily to northern Syria which has millions of people but don't produce a single drop of oil because there is none and Turkey already has a shortage of oil itself and has a weak economy.

The goal of Putin and Assad is to make it so costly for Turkey to protect northern Syria so that Turkey withdraws from northern Syria.

Your treating as if assad has unlimited money.

The country is destroyed. Assad does not even control the oilfields. Turkish parts occupied by Syria now use the Turkish lira. While sdf aka ypg uses us dollars.

. .
SDF areas will eventually collapse because Arabs CANNOT live with Kurds and vice-versa. The Arab-Kurd hostility is ten times much worse than any Turkish-Kurd hostility. Obviously western observers ignore this fact.

Damascus is one of the most famous cities in the world. As long as Assad holds Damascus Assad is the UN recognized leader in Syria. Daily attacks on Idlib don't stop.

If Assad and Russia can't get those oilfields back then Syria is going to be divided. I don't see Turkey doing anything not with the fronts we have and the issues we're involved in.

If Turkey didn't have those fronts we'd have dealt with the YPG.

The biggest failure of TR was and is to always wait for a green light... in Libya, in Syria - it is always the same...
We won't know - what has been discussed in secret and still is being discussed... I hope they have correct, understandable reasons...

No having an incompetent government is the result of this. They make a few things right, but the amount of mistakes and economic problems makes those steps just barely ok.

Babacan, Davutoglu and Gül should have left 7 years ago, and caused massive upheavel making the public realize that unacceptable things were going on in the government.

Now look at us. in 2001-2002 we defaulted on our debt because of 2-3 billion usd. we're risking defaulting on over 30 billion usd now...

What do you think the government should have done? what would have been the right action? don't let refugees into the country? not fighting the PKK on syr. soil? No deal with Libya? despite the deployment of Russian and US troops, advance further and take greater risks...

what is your opinion?

Don't sign the EU refugee deal, they (RTE) waited until 2016 to sign it, and still shouldn't have signed it. With the time EU got from that fucking deal they worked on closing borders. See how pathetic RTE tried to move refugees to EU after februar 2020 and the backlash we got.

What did we get for doing that ? NOTHING! EU existence would have been threatened by 4+ mio. refugees despite having a population of over 400 mio. They would have been forced to put soldiers on the ground.

And even if EU put soldiers on the ground, we would still do what we did take 30+ km and turn it into safe zone.

The difference is very fucking clear, we would not be alone in Syria trying to protect the civilians. And we would have more free hands to deal with YPG and PKK.

Think before you spew out shit like "not fighting PKK" or "not making deal with Libya" that kinda mentality is what leads to the fucked up political situation in Turkey.

Turkey got screwed over we waited too long to intervene.

Usa, russia and eu all screwed us over. Americans and russians already agreed to not let the Turks have too much.

We won on the field but gave it all away. We basically stalemated on our operations.

We failed to achieve any objectives. Diplomacy and international law failed like shit. Also pr means jack shit as the dumbass k*rds basically cried and told the world we are committing a genocide.

A real clusterfck. I hope the TSK can clean the mess when we are already in a deep hole.

In 2013, Davutoglu called Nasrallah when the rebels where in the center of Damascus and told him to prepare to pack his bags. Never count your chickens before they are hatched.
Turkey should have gone in right there and then in Syria to give the final blow to Assad and to make sure the country transitions peacefully to a democracy and with its territorial integrity still intact and with no Russia/Iran/Hezbollah in Syria. This would serve as an example in the entire middle-east and Egypt would most probably still be a Democracy.

Despite having an enormous army, what use is it if you don't dare to use it?

Now Turkey is picking up the shattered geostrategic pieces and is desperate to put them together. What is happening in East-med, Libya and what happened in Egypt is an extension of the failure of Turkey to get involved early in Syria. And now with Macron visiting his old colony Lebanon, France will get more involved in East-med.

Turkey should have never signed the refugee deal, and waited in the sidelines to just hunt down YPG especially near the oilfields near our borders.
