Yavuz and Fatih names should be kept for future aircraft carriers

Or a heavy cruiser like the Original TCG Yavuz Battlecruiser

How could we turn this enormous part of Turkish history into scrap metal, still boggles my mind.

We boast spirituality but we're a very materialistic nation.

Yavuz are older than Barbaros Class and lack on VLS, any Upgrade would become expensive!

It doesn't really matter, arm launcher or vertical launcher, they both have ESSM. You know Barbaros class doesn't have anything other than ESSM right?

So I don't think that matters.

Although we could upgrade Yavuz class with MIDLAS once we have Siper in sufficient numbers.

@Foinikas That mini submarine looks like it's going to be a nightmare for the Hellenic Navy or any navy.

  • Has 2 heavy torpedo tubes,
  • Capable of diving in 10m shallow waters
  • Capable of being deployed from any port in Turkey, (not just naval bases) within 24 hours
  • Around 400 miles of range on batteries almost 2000 miles range total.
I'm amazed so many capabilities can be made to fit such a small package. Imagine having 20-30 of these. Even a USN carrier group would be intimidated.

Basically a modern Type IIB I think she's even smaller than Iranian Ghadir class.

The Bayraktar TB3 UCAV's recent night approach tests over TCG Anadolu mark a significant step for Türkiye’s defense and naval capabilities. As an unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) designed specifically to operate from short-runway aircraft carriers, the TB3 aligns with Türkiye’s goal of enhancing its naval airpower with advanced drone technology. The TCG Anadolu, Türkiye's largest warship, is also notable as the world’s first dedicated drone carrier, signaling a shift towards drone-centric naval warfare.

The TB3 is built to take off and land on shorter runways, making it ideal for carrier-based operations. This capability allows the TB3 to perform reconnaissance, surveillance, and strike missions directly from a mobile naval platform, providing Türkiye with a strategic advantage in both regional and international waters. These night approach tests indicate progress toward full operational deployment, underscoring Türkiye’s role in pioneering unmanned drone operations from sea-based platforms.

Turkey is sending six warshipsto the Red Sea as part of its efforts to counter the Yemeni Houthi rebels, who have been actively targeting shipping in the region. This move comes amid escalating tensions following recent Houthi attacks on vessels linked to Israel and increasing military operations by Western powers against the Houthis.

Key Points:

  • Deployment Purpose: The Turkish naval deployment aims to enhance maritime security in the Red Sea, particularly in light of Houthi threats to international shipping routes. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for several missile and drone attacks on vessels, asserting that these operations are a response to Israeli actions in Gaza.
  • Turkey's Naval Expansion: This deployment is part of Turkey's broader strategy to strengthen its naval capabilities and assert its influence in regional waters. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emphasized the need for a robust navy to protect Turkish interests and contribute to international maritime security.
  • Regional Reactions: The presence of Turkish warships is likely to raise concerns among neighboring countries, particularly those wary of Turkey's expanding military footprint. Nations like Greece and Israel have previously expressed apprehensions regarding Turkey's naval activities, which they perceive as a potential threat.
  • Houthi Response: The Houthis have vowed to continue their military operations against vessels associated with Israel and its allies, declaring all U.S. and British ships as military targets. This escalation underscores the complex dynamics at play in the region, where multiple actors are involved in a web of alliances and conflicts.
  • International Implications: The situation in the Red Sea is critical for global trade, as it serves as a major conduit for oil and goods. Disruptions caused by Houthi attacks have already led to increased shipping costs and rerouted trade routes, impacting economies worldwide.
As Turkey enhances its naval presence in response to Houthi aggression, the situation remains tense, with potential implications for regional stability and international maritime security. The actions taken by Turkey will be closely monitored by both allies and adversaries in the region.

The Turkish Navy's anti-submarine corvette has been reported to be patrolling near Tartus, Syria, likely monitoring Russian naval activities amid a changing security landscape in the region. This deployment is significant given the ongoing tensions and military dynamics involving Turkey, Russia, and various factions within Syria.

Key Points:

  1. Deployment Context: The corvette is part of Turkey's commitment to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which aims to monitor maritime activities and prevent arms smuggling to Hezbollah from the sea. Its presence near Tartus suggests a dual purpose—monitoring both regional security and potential Russian naval movements.
  2. Russian Naval Movements: Recent reports indicate that Russia may be evacuating some of its naval assets from Tartus due to increasing threats from opposition forces in Syria. The Russian Navy has historically used Tartus as a strategic base, but the current situation could compel them to reassess their presence there.
  3. Implications for Regional Security: The patrols by the Turkish corvette highlight Turkey's proactive stance in the region, especially as it seeks to counterbalance Russian influence while also addressing its own security concerns regarding Kurdish groups in northern Syria.
  4. Potential for Increased Tensions: The combination of Turkish naval operations and Russian military withdrawals could lead to heightened tensions in southwestern Syria. Both nations have complex relationships with various factions on the ground, and any miscalculation could escalate into direct confrontations.
  5. Strategic Importance of Tartus: The naval base at Tartus is crucial for Russia's military operations in the Mediterranean and its broader geopolitical strategy. Any significant changes in its operational status could have far-reaching implications for Russian influence in the region.

Conclusion:

The presence of the Turkish Navy's anti-submarine corvette near Tartus underscores the evolving military dynamics in Syria and the ongoing competition between Turkey and Russia for influence. As both nations navigate their interests, the situation remains fluid, with potential implications for regional stability and security.
