Yavuz and Fatih names should be kept for future aircraft carriers

Or a heavy cruiser like the Original TCG Yavuz Battlecruiser

How could we turn this enormous part of Turkish history into scrap metal, still boggles my mind.

We boast spirituality but we're a very materialistic nation.

Yavuz are older than Barbaros Class and lack on VLS, any Upgrade would become expensive!

It doesn't really matter, arm launcher or vertical launcher, they both have ESSM. You know Barbaros class doesn't have anything other than ESSM right?

So I don't think that matters.

Although we could upgrade Yavuz class with MIDLAS once we have Siper in sufficient numbers.

@Foinikas That mini submarine looks like it's going to be a nightmare for the Hellenic Navy or any navy.

  • Has 2 heavy torpedo tubes,
  • Capable of diving in 10m shallow waters
  • Capable of being deployed from any port in Turkey, (not just naval bases) within 24 hours
  • Around 400 miles of range on batteries almost 2000 miles range total.
I'm amazed so many capabilities can be made to fit such a small package. Imagine having 20-30 of these. Even a USN carrier group would be intimidated.

Basically a modern Type IIB I think she's even smaller than Iranian Ghadir class.

The Bayraktar TB3 UCAV's recent night approach tests over TCG Anadolu mark a significant step for Türkiye’s defense and naval capabilities. As an unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) designed specifically to operate from short-runway aircraft carriers, the TB3 aligns with Türkiye’s goal of enhancing its naval airpower with advanced drone technology. The TCG Anadolu, Türkiye's largest warship, is also notable as the world’s first dedicated drone carrier, signaling a shift towards drone-centric naval warfare.

The TB3 is built to take off and land on shorter runways, making it ideal for carrier-based operations. This capability allows the TB3 to perform reconnaissance, surveillance, and strike missions directly from a mobile naval platform, providing Türkiye with a strategic advantage in both regional and international waters. These night approach tests indicate progress toward full operational deployment, underscoring Türkiye’s role in pioneering unmanned drone operations from sea-based platforms.
