These ships which we're complete strangers to their systems, will be a nightmare to fix and maintain. Turkish navy last bought a ship from britain 64 years ago. I am hoping that this news is untrue."



And the tweet he's quoting is saying that we bought 12 Type 23s from the RN which is absolutely impossible. We would have to cancel the OPV project, retire all OHPs and the Burak class and still have ships to spare. What the **** are we going to do with 12 new frigates? Even if Britain gives them for free, I don't expect taking more than 6

One of the best Greek defence sites wrote yesterday that there was only one source that posted this story (I think some Turkish site?) and it's not known for its reliability.

So the whole thing might just be a sensational article.

Agreed, highly unlikely that a deal will be signed.

There are obvious political implications too, which makes a deal less probable. Though they can be easily brushed aside.

After we kicked out of the F35 project, I was saying that we should look into Eurofighter etc. And the sheep were saying that no, our F16 fleet is enough Turkish aesa radar has bajillion modules etc. etc. Then the government did something even more embarrassing and we're waiting for F16s like a dog waits for a treat. And the sheep are now saying good call, great idea, of course we need more planes No matter what erdo does, they are going to say, it's a good idea. S400 was a good idea too

If we buy these ships, they are great ships. If we don't buy them, they were shitty and our own ships are better anyway.

You know,if I or Akritas or anyone else here (who is not Pakistani) said that the Turkish AESA is probably not that good compared to Western ones.....they would tear me to pieces. They'd rush to say I'm jealous etc.
