STAR refinery in Turkey's İzmir to be inaugurated today

The $6.3 billion refinery is the largest single-location real sector investment in Turkey's history and will be one of the biggest petroleum and gas operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa

with an annual production capacity of 10 million tons of crude oil, 1.6 million tons of naphtha, and 1.6 million tons of jet fuel






-- The refinery is expected to cut Turkey's current account deficit by $1.5 billion
-- It also looks to fully eliminate Turkey's need to import jet fuel
-- The refinery is also expected to reduce liquefied petroleum gas LPG imports to 70% from 79%

$1,5 billion Central Anatolia solar plant open until January 2019


The entire project 1500 MW the plant will generate a minimum of 2.9 billion kilowatt-hours of energy, contributing approximately TL 1 billion ( $170 million ) to the economy per year
and meeting the electricity demand of approximately 1.4 million households

EBRD to back Turkey's new renewable energy support plan


The Turkish private sector has invested $95 billion in the last 10 years in electricity generation
Since 2009, the EBRD has invested nearly 11 billion euros in Turkey

1.6 billion euros of the total amount has been channeled to power sector in Turkey

A total of 850 million euros is actually for renewables and 550 million euros for distribution of both electricity and gas , 175 million euros for gas fired power plants

Ceyhan Mega Petrochemical Industrial Zone in Turkey


One of Turkey's construction giants Rönesans Holding signed a framework cooperation agreement with the Dutch Port of Rotterdam for the Ceyhan Mega Petrochemical Industrial Zone in Turkey

The projects in the Ceyhan Mega Petrochemical Industrial Zone will primarily focus on petrochemical plants

in February, Rönesans signed a $1 billion deal with Algeria's state-run energy and chemicals company Sonatrach for a petrochemical investment in the Yumurtalık free economic zone, in the southern Turkish city of Adana.
The plant is expected to produce 450,000 tons of polypropylene per year

ERDOGAN stressed that construction of new metro lines with a length of 294 km at 18 different locations continue. Next year, a metro line between Mecidiyeköy and Mahmutbey will be opened
The length of rail systems in Istanbul will reach 355 kilometers and when all the projects are finished it will exceed 1,000 km

Historic day in Turkey as İstanbul New Airport opens today


The ceremony will take place on Republic Day, the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic with the attendance of President ERDOGAN and more than 50 foreign leaders, ministers and high level officials

-- Istanbul New Airport will serve 90 million passengers annually in its first phase
-- two runways — 3,750 and 4,100 meters long will go into service as a part of the first phase
-- At its completion in 10 years it will serve up to 200 million passengers a year with 6 runways.
That's almost double the traffic at world's biggest airport currently, Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson in The US

-- İstanbul New Airport features a 32,000sq m dedicated food & beverage area, and a 52,500sq m duty free shopping zone ( the largest of its kind in the airport world )



ERDOGAN is expected to announce the official name of the new airport, part of his plan to transform Turkey into a global player

At full capacity, Istanbul's new Airport is set to become a global aviation hub by hosting more than 100 Airlines and flights to over 300 destinations around the world

Drillship FATIH kicks off operations in Mediterranean , second vessel to enter fleet soon


Turkish drilling Vessel FATIH began its first well-drilling operations yesterday in the Mediterranean
The 229 meter Vessel is capable of drilling to a maximum depth of 12,192 meters. The first well is planned to reach a depth of 5,500 meters

FATIH drilling Vessel outperformed 16 other Vessels in its own category and ranked among the top five drilling Vessels in the world




Turkey is already undertaking oil and gas exploration activities with two seismic Vessels

Turkey is also planning to add a second drilling vessel to its fleet. It will secure Turkey's rights in the Mediterranean as per international law

Pakistan invites Turkey to join $64 billion mega project


Pakistan has invited Turkey to join the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which would benefit both countries

Pakistan highly values its relations with Turkey, and the new government desires to further strengthen relations between Islamabad and Ankara

CPEC, a $64 billion megaproject signed in 2014, aims to connect China's strategically important northwestern Xinjiang province to Pakistan’s Gwadar Port through a network of roads, railways and pipelines to transport cargo, oil and gas

The economic corridor will not only provide China with cheaper access to Africa and the Middle East but will also earn Pakistan billions of dollars for providing transit facilities to the world’s second-largest economy

Turkey's M5 metro line ranks Europe's top driverless metro


Turkey's first driverless metro line in Istanbul was ranked as Europe's biggest automated line

The line was also named as the world's third and Europe's biggest automated line
Istanbul's driverless Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Çekmeköy-Sancaktepe metro line with a passenger capacity of 1,620 people .... shot ahead of Rome (1,200 passenger capacity), Barcelona (895 passenger capacity) and Paris (722 passenger capacity) subways

out of 62 automated metros worldwide, only 22 have more than 500 passenger capacity in a single trip

Istanbul becomes greener as 5 large city parks open


President ERDOGAN on Saturday attended a collective opening ceremony of five large new city parks in Istanbul

Work on 33 public gardens in 18 cities has reached the final stage. Our goal is to create at least one public garden in every city, Erdoğan said
The five parks with a combined area of 1.5 million square meters increase Istanbul's green space per capita by 10%




ERDOGAN said, adding that after construction of another city park at the site Atatürk Airport this number will go up even higher

Public Garden in Istanbul will be 3 times bigger than Central Park in New York

Mega Park in Istanbul : 11,7 million m2
Central Park in New York : 3,4 million m2
Hyde Park in London : 1,4 million m2
