Turkish Missile Programs

What do you thing, whence is your knowledge coming? For example, what do you thing, who has you teach to develop subs? After U-214, Turkey will build subs on their own.

Its not like Turkey didnt pay for it..

I didnt say all European countries are unreliable. France has always been unsupportive against us. Therefore i don't want to see hypocrite 'co-operation' with France, just trade and business. I prefer co-operation with European countries with whom we have neutral/good relationship, especially Sweden comes to mind.

However, on paper (Win-win, in all sectors of aerospace), proposals seem very good with a global leader in aerospace defense, more than Germany or another European country in this area. We will see… :pop:

ANKARA — Turkey’s state-owned missile specialist Roketsan has successfully tested a long-range anti-tank missile it has been developing, the country’s procurement agency has announced.

The first guided firing test for MIZRAK-U was conducted from a Cobra AH-1S helicopter and hit a target at a distance of 3.5 kilometers.

The office said that MIZRAK-U would be used in the T-129 attack helicopters being co-produced by a partnership of Tusas Turkish Aerospace Industries and Italian-British AgustaWestland.

MIZRAK-U has a maximum range of eight kilometers, and its serial production will start in 2015. The missile has a homing imaging infrared seeker with radio frequency data link and with tandem-high explosive warhead and a laser-seeker option.

The missile’s medium-range version, MIZRAK-O, has a four-kilometer range and similar characteristics to MIZRAK-U.

To me it looks like after the rocket is fired at 10 seconds into the video it is following a target. Why else would it fly the way it did? Are there any details about this test? Was it successful? I thought before that they were just testing to see if it would launch, fly etc.

Cirit fights on for European markets

Following firm orders from the Turkish Armed Forces and the Middle East, missile manufacturer Roketsan is now pitching its Cirit lightweight precision rocket system in Europe.

Cirit is a highly cost-effective weapon system that combines the precision of a laser guided multi-purpose missile with the low price and availability of a 2.75″ rocket.

“There will be a large defence fair in Germany that Turkey will also participate. We want to carry Cirit’s success on to European markets. We hope that this coming fair in Europe will be a good opportunity for Cirit to show itself to new potential buyers” said Mr. Selcuk Yasar, Roketsan’s general manager.

“Cirit has recently finished qualification trials in the United Arab Emirates,” he added.

Last February, Roketsan was successful in securing a $196 million contract with the UAE for a total of 10,000 laser-guided Cirit rockets at the IDEX defence fair in Abu Dhabi. The rockets are to be used primarily aboard UAE’s AT-802 airplanes.

Combat Proven Capability

In the meantime, Roketsan continues to deliver an unspecified number of Cirit rockets to the Turkish Land Forces command. These rockets have been delivered in special smart launchers that are installed in remote, Kalekol-class outposts along Turkey’s south eastern border. These systems have been extremely effective in combating terrorism and illegal smuggling.

Naval Compatibility

In addition to being used by airplanes, UAVs, helicopters and even land-based launchers, Turkey is also adapting Cirit to be used aboard naval platforms. The laser homing, 14-kg guided rocket provides lethal precision strike capability against fast attack crafts and similarly sized platforms at a range of 8 kilometers (5 miles).

WTF they changed the name 3 times? Let me get this straight. The OMTAS, TAM-MR, and Mizrak O are the same thing and the latest name that is being used is Mizrak O. Right? So I can say that the rocket in the picture I posted above is the Mizrak O.

Well if you go to Roketsan's website they are still using orginal names of OMTAS and UMTAS for that reason i always use these designations.

.
I'm not to sure of the names origins, but I think OMTAS and UMTAS are the abbreviations of the names given to the projects by SSM, whilst Mizrak could be the name given by Roketsan or even the field-name given by the army.
