Because it is amphibious
I asked one of FNSS guys, why the Kaplan is amphibious and the vehicle for Indonesia isn't
He said that the customer(Indonesia) didn't want amphibious capability for it's vehicle.
But the Kaplan is amphibious!

Something I don't understand, if Kaplan-30 is not amphibious.. why does it have propellers ?

Probably it is within an option.

What about kaplan-30 with extra levels of protection, are they too heavy or do they have amphibious capability as well?

Looks like Jane's has really gone downhill, bad reporting by them tsk tsk..

Since Kaplan-30 is basically ACV-30, there certainly shouldn't be any reason to doubt that a 30ton vehicle cant be amphibious.

This is really upsetting me.

It isn't highlighted as much as Tumosan engined Pusat. Katmerciler and Aselsan made my dream come true. An armored hybrid vehicle, a move towards future not only in military but also on civil fields. Its an great example how wrong we're into. It has many more advantages compared to fossil engines.

But let's put that aside. Its a total shame that it isn't noticed by anyone and YES, it has an national electric engine...

A little interview with Katmerciler is further below.

Here's Turkey's first hybrid armor:

Developed in partnership with Aselsan and Katmerciler, Turkey's first hybrid concept armored vehicle, HIZIR, will be introduced at IDEF'17.

According to Katmerciler's explanation, the Turkish defense industry will have the first hybrid armored vehicle by using the electric motor developed by Aselsan, Katmerciler's armored combat vehicle HIZIR. The hybrid concept, which will reduce the dependency on the infrastructure in the infrastructure systems, will provide great opportunities for the development of new generation vehicles and will be applicable to other vehicles as well.

With this innovation, which is of great importance in reducing the external dependency of the national defense industry, the electric motor developed by Aselsan will be integrated into HIZIR which is developed by Katmerciler and ready for production. The project, which the two companies are working on, will be presented at the stand of both companies at the same time.

HIZIR, the strongest combat vehicle of the segment in the Turkish defense industry, will win the first hybrid vehicle title of the industry at the same time with this innovative breakthrough. Hybrid armored vehicle concept, which starts with HIZIR, will be an innovation that will revolutionize the development of new armored vehicles.

"Will reduce outward dependence"

Katmerciler Executive Board Deputy Chairman Furkan Katmerci noted that they are happy and proud to sign a project that will open a horizon in the national defense industry together with an organization that has a very important place in the sector such as Aselsan.

Recognizing that the hybrid vehicle concept has been able to successfully pass the test, it will provide a great opportunity for the development of new generation vehicles, Katmerci said.

"I invite my stand to see all the hybrid concepts that are interested in innovations in the defense sector and the first armored vehicle to be developed with this concept: QUICK, road and performance tests have been successfully completed, production ready, NATO standards, ballistically reinforced, , The most powerful 4x4 tactical wheeled armored combat vehicle of its segment, now integrating the electric motor developed by our national Aselsan, which is a technology production center, in the field of terrestrial armored vehicles, we will gain a different dimension to the sector.

By switching on the electric motor, the vehicle will not need to be shredded and smaller fuel engines will be available, allowing for smaller, more maneuverable, faster vehicle development. These tools will not only save fuel, but also make the armor a much more effective and striking force, allowing the enemy to be silent during an intervention. Our car will reduce the dependency on the defense industry. "

I don't know about electric engine's for military vehicles, and I'm talking about in-field refueling here. The Aselsan brochure shows a charging station, when in conflict, you don't always have a charging station available. But these engines are hybrid though, so it might work. I don't know.

I personally think the Katmerciler vehicle looks ugly, that might also be a reason for not receiving as much hype as it did. Tumosan Pusat looks a bit better, but not really awesome looking either. And I know, functionality > looks, but it is something that I notice.

US Army also started making these type of armored vehicle.
Maybe not electric but Hybrid is without a question a step forward and it's ugly true :) If only they keep updating it.

Electric engines have high Tork. Tesla has long range, speed and fast acceleration.
Is the electric engine of Katmerciler vehicle always active or only at demand ? That would be interesting to know.
