Turkey's EU membership hits a wall

IMO Turkey may not need to join any bloc at all. With a strong economy and an emerging military sector, they can be an independent world body. Other than France and Germany, EU has no significance anymore as such and all EU countries barring these two are collapsing.

Turkey should consider being an individual player. That way countries would respect its individual stand as well.

That seems to be the only option but you know turkey they want to lead.

Turkey should be independent, in true Ottoman fashion.

The GCC it's performance against iran is pathetic if turkey joined it they would provide the tools for the right leadership. currently half of cyprus is occupied and Azerbaijan is the only other ally but it hates the current leadership in Turkey, azeri's are also threatening to start another war with Armenia.

Turkey was eager to join EU because they wanted to stabilize and improve the economy and human rights. There were absurd rules in Turkey against Muslims, which you wouldn't find in any other country in the world.

But today Turkey has already proved that she can show a growth and economical stability which even makes the modern western countries drool.

And for Muslims and Kurds things are going much better, due to the current "Islamic" government (which even atheists are voting on). The current government proved alot in the international arena which none of the previous ones could do.

I don't see much gain in Turkey entering EU right now, actually it could cause a big crisis as the Greek one, they are neighbors afterall.

Best Option for turkey is likely middle east. but it should stay independent now and focus on internal problems.

How about entering the SCO instead ? The SCO is a pretty useful forum to be on; energy wise, technology wise (better relations with China and Russia equals more avenues opening up), economy wise (maybe in the future some economic dimension could be given to the SCO too) and of course Turkiye, if she plays her cards right, can become a neutral but friendly nation trusted by all parties - the Chinese, the Russians and the West ! I would assume that such a position would be enormously beneficial to Turkiye !

In the meantime...Turkiye can assume a more active role in the OIC and bring that, well to put it euphemistically - Pathetic, organization to something a bit more influential and constructive ! Off the top of my head I could think of something to the lines of : instituting a much more aggressive social welfare aspect to the OIC...which is to say, perhaps, donations are collected by some standing committee of the OIC and then projects taken up in some of the most impoverished areas of the member states. Or on a separate note...perhaps an economic aspect be constituted whereby some kind of 'preferential treatment' be accorded to imports and exports from within the OIC !

Markets of the SCO countries are rough ones. Turkey can't sell anything in China, because they are producing everything for cheap prices.
Turkey founded Turkic Council and D-8. These were big steps for a country like Turkey.

European funds are active in Turkey. Small businesses in Turkey are funding with German money. :D Imagine what can happen when Turkey enter to EU: Turkey has 70 million population, France has 63 million. It means that if Turkey can enter EU, it will have more seats than France in European Parliement. It will receive more money, European funds will finance research activities in Turkey.
That's why we are eager to join European Union. Every political party in Turkey wants to enter EU, it is in every party's agenda.
