I know you meant the muslim world when you said the east. But the thing i didnt understand was "being interested" part. If you mean improving relations,why we shouldnt be uninterested?

Most of Turkey's aspirations a leaning towards E.U./USA side is what I mean. Eg. NATO.

I find it really funny how people here are suggesting that Turkey is a "role model" for other Muslim countries.

For a country that is part of a defence pact which has slaughtered Muslims the world over (including Pakistanis), and who also follows the diktat of the Western powers, the same western powers who will bend to any extent to please their spoiled child israel, how can it be a role model for other Muslim countries?

I sort of agree with you in the sense that I don't think Muslims in today's world are "ready" to be ruled religiously.
Besides I don't think anyone has the ability to lead Muslims properly using Islamic Law anyway. Misuse of Sharia is very common now a days.

Pakistan doesn't have and doesn't need a role model. Just saying just in case somebody starts pointing that out. But Erdogan himself is a good role model for Pakistan's PMs.

Besides, as far as the independence bit goes, neither do the Cyprus Turks or the Kurdish Turks want independence from Turkey, if that's what you were about to say. They just want more say and play in common Turkish affairs and want more investment to be made in Kurish dominated regions/provinces.

Im not an advocator of the role-model thing but this kind of Shia bs makes me laugh everytime.
As a Turk,im very unindependent.Why? Because our policies are not in line with Russia.

Let me ask you this, if today Turkey quits NATO, forces US to pack its bags and withdraw its bases from Turkish soil, would Turkey last as a so called economically developing nation???

I doubt it, this AKP is just a farce, they're making so much noise over Syria yet took no action against israel after the flotilla incident. A truly independent nation wouldn't let its citizens get slaughtered an not do anything about it.

Imagine if Israel's citizens had been murdered in cold blood the way those Turks were murdered on that flotilla, the MOSSAD would've assassinated all of those responsible.
