Reverse engineering can only get you so far the Chinese also use espionage but the USA will always be miles ahead because China is always going to try and play catch up. It is great news, F-35 delay or high costs will slow the process, Canada is postponing to reevaluate F-35s. J-31 is progressing fast than expected, great blueprint plane. Turkey should sit quiet and watch what other partners does before think twice.

Offset deals for this project is above %100. It is official now that SOM will be compatible with F35.

F35 will never be too expensive for Turkey. IF the officials thought delaying the procurement for a couple of years can benefit Turkey so be it, but we will buy F35. Nobody could ever offer a better deal than the JSF to Turkey.

Advertise J31 all you want we have an assembly line for F35 in TAI.. there's no coming back. TAI have delivered F35 fuselage parts to Lockheed Martin. We have made money out of this just incredible

SSM decided to delay the F35's which where ordered in january 2012, to be re-evaluated later again.

Delayed because other countries like Australia etc. including US have delayed their orders too, therefor the costs of the initial batches have risen dramatically.

SSM probably decided to wait what the other partner countries are going to do and re-evaluate later again. In practice this means a delay of a couple of years.

What problem is there to order 2 planes no matter at what cost?
At least the pilots could see the plane and do some tests.
There must be other problems.

About buying stuff from "papa" you'd be right 40 years ago when we bought F16s via foreign military sales(FMS)...

But even then it was relatively cheap and came with some certain level of work offset. So I suggest you switch that attitude of yours because you have a similar relationship with Pakistan and this conversation may not end well for you.

JSF is a whole different story, we are partners to the project. Not the customer.
