fact remains that the shang ri la resort at KKH and the dirt track going towards fairy meadows is well known to locals...plenty go that way in summers as there are now many wooden huts and temporary restaurants in fairy meadows...locals go there all the time now...
when was the last time you were there?

if the attackers were locals
they had easily ambushed the tourists on KKH..or while they were in chilas...as all tourists stop over in chilss before heading east towards fairy meadows..

It is being reported that the victims were killed 'late Saturday night'. If the killers fled immediately after the killings, they are either still in the area hoping to meld in with the local population (or know some locals), or must have made a night march back to wherever they came from.

This is Sunday afternoon, around 1:10 PM in Pakistan. If the way to the region is so arduous, requiring what seems to be an arduous hike, the egress would be just as difficult. But doable.

If they made the night march, I fear that the window of opportunity to apprehend them is fast closing or has closed.

still doable.....as not many roads coming in and out of the area....and locals know each other....any non local ca be Sussed out easily...

google earth is your friend here...try looking for shang ri la resort 80km before gilgit while coming from Islamabad...

what good would that do? people are killed along with guards.

secondly its impossible there are so many places the angry brothers can pick and choose. would you be putting guards at every location from Karachi to Nanga purbat?
