What's new

TTP Murdered 11 foreign mountaineers at Nanga Parbat base camp.

Were they local people? Is it confirmed?

Besides, it isn't easy to trek for miles at night for a base camp, you need a experienced guide for that.

that's the point....they can't be local...
locals know which mountain to face and then turn which way....to go to nanga parbat..
plus those people seem to have taken the long route away from public eyes.....as there is a jeep track to nanga parbat....stating near chilas.....goes straight to base camp..no guides needed..
@krash is the experienced one here....

chilas us a very peaceful area...the peoplep are yes to hosting foreign tourism and their businesses rely on that..
it don't make sense that locals will want to kill foreign tourists...
Again we cannot turn a blind eye towards foreign agencies working in Pakistan..
weren't 10 tourists killed in IOK recently...?
This may well he a tit for tat attack......and in Pakistan its damn easy to make an anonymous non varifyable call and "accept responsiblity" on any groups behalf.

Sir, when were 10 Foreigner's where killed in Kashmir? Any source for your Gibberish? Like Chilas, Kashmir's main source of Income is Tourism too....Search Google and you'll be amazed to know that it's flocked with Tourist from all over the world...

Instead of DENIAL, start accepting truth....Tit or tat attack. TT :ashamed:

So here's how this will be dealt with (BTW notice ttack on Ziarat was not a attack on Pakistan), guaranteed to bring in more tourists:

Attack on foreign tourists is attack on Pakistan: Nisar
By Ferya Ilyas
Published: June 23, 2013

ISLAMABAD: Calling the attack on foreign tourists in Gilgit-Baltistan an attack on Pakistan, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the visitors should be monitored from the moment they land in Pakistan.

Nisar was speaking during a National Assembly session on Sunday.

Late Saturday night, five Ukrainians, three Chinese, a Russian and their guide were killed in an attack in a remote resort area near the base camp for the snow-covered Nanga Parbat mountain.

Condemning the incident, the interior minister said that all the institutions in the country are weak and have failed to prevent such attacks.

He further criticised the lack of accountability against irresponsible officials, whose failures lead to security lapses.

Nisar vowed to work beyond his responsibility to ensure security across the country.

He informed the parliamentarians that his ministry is working on a national security policy which will soon be presented in the national assembly.

The interior minister said that the recommendations made by all the political parties will be accommodated to make it a comprehensive national policy

The tourists should have been provided adequate protection if the news is true. The Taliban are rampaging across the country and it isn't even safe for locals, let alone foreigners.

Taliban should be utterly vanquished for the crimes they have committed against the Pakistani state.

Come on now, we love these guys, the real Muslims - 50,000 Pakistanis they have killed and we still bend over for them, just ask the PA, their favorite position -- so we can get angry and make noises but our army will make sure the problem continues till their calculations are complete

Tourists always stop at chilas before trekking towards nanga parbat...security is provided in chilas..
beyond that nothing ever happened and this is the first ever incident..
well planned military style and meticulously executed...cannot be random goons..

how about asking supreme court with one eyed dajjal....raising missing person cases.....framing mush for action against bugti the well k.own terrorist..

Army knows they will be penalized for planting a bullet in terrorist skull...but won't be praised for that...

I doubt this was done by Taliban...

As for security, nothing like this happens in those places so security was lax, as expected.

and if they were local....why would they hire guides?

there are only 10-15 drivers that can take you to Fairy meadows, rest of the locals dont even dare. let alone trekking up to the base... lahore ki har gali ka pata hia ?

Terrorists came in Gilgit Scouts uniform, hired two guides to take them to the base camp. One guide was killed while the other is in custody.

A horrendous attack. Definitely targeted, nobody treks for miles to kill 10 people for no reason.

My friends from the area and other Northerners say that they sleep without putting the locks on at night! That is how safe those areas are for the locals.

waise TTP has also claimed responsibility as a revenge of killing their second in command.

the terrorists must still be in the area... they need to be traced and brought to justice...

fact remains that the shang ri la resort at KKH and the dirt track going towards fairy meadows is well known to locals...plenty go that way in summers as there are now many wooden huts and temporary restaurants in fairy meadows...locals go there all the time now...
when was the last time you were there?

if the attackers were locals
they had easily ambushed the tourists on KKH..or while they were in chilas...as all tourists stop over in chilss before heading east towards fairy meadows..
