A trapped cat on the cornice of Sonali Bank building at the Secretariat in DhakaSM Abbas/Bangla Tribune

Trapped at the cornice for four days, the starving cat was continuously trying to get off but it could not jump from such a height
A cat has been rescued after four days from the cornice of Sonali Bank building at the Secretariat in the capital on Wednesday.

Trapped on the fourth floor cornice of the building, the starving cat had made several desperate attempts to get down but failed.

Seeing the cat’s efforts, staff members at the Secretariat tried to rescue the cat but they too failed. Later, they called the fire service for help on Wednesday evening.

An eight-member team of Secretariat fire service station arrived at the scene and with the help of staff members at the Secretariat, they rescued the cat unhurt around 5:30pm. The cat, however, ran away into the bushes behind the building after being rescued.

Secretariat fire service station in-charge Potiram said: “Though the cat could not eat for four days, it was in good health. It managed to escape as soon as we rescued it.”

Zakir Hossain, a witness of the incident, said: “The starving cat was trapped on the cornice for four days and was trying to get down desperately. Responding to the cat’s desperate calls, the employees here [the Secretariat] also tried to rescue it but failed, so they called they fire service.”

Last year in March, another cat was trapped on a tree at the Secretariat premises which was rescued by fire service officials.

. . . .
Secretariat is usally a fancy building.. That must be some quarters for lowly employees in police.

. .
Why not? In this dirty building millions of dollars worth of money change hands or promised. It is a money making machine.

well it wont change much if it is just kept clean.
Makes the cat story rather irrelevant

I thank the fire fighters for rescuing the cat, but not happy to see how rickety this small animal is, probably unfed for days like many other cat citizens of Bangladesh. I do not know why, but people are not kind to animals in BD.

This report said that, this cat is starving for 4 days after becoming trapped.

Not all cat in a bad shape in BD.I have seen hundreds of cat in a single govt. medical college who are very well fed and big. Each of our govt. medical contain at least several hundred cat who live a very comfortable life.Same is true for household cat.It is the abandoned street cat who face the hardship mostly.

The fact that we as a nation don't eat these things is a good thing. In some countries they do.

@BDforever the feline lover....

We should be humane and follow the Koran/Hadith on what is Halal for us to eat and only what is necessary. Those are sensible rules.

It's always sad for me to see cats in trouble. Good that this cat was rescued and hope that he/she will get good food and put on good form.

Thanks to the firefighters.
