Traditional chinese costume . We eliminate your misunderstanding of Chinese costume and hairstyle.

I think India can retain its unique culture. Even several hundreds of years of British colonial rule cannot abolish native culture, nobody can! But India should also feel lucky that Britain is not barbarians like Manchu that would force you to change hairstyle and clothing.

I think it depends on the religiosity of a society. The more religious a community, the tendency they retain their ethnic regalia. For example, most societies in the Middle East are religious and thus they retain their clothing preference. If we examine Ultra-Orthodox Jews, they , too, retain very conservative style clothing. The Amish , Menonnite communities in the United States, which are religious communities and also retain their unique regalia. Perhaps one can attribute the ethnic regalia of many South Asian societies due to their religious nature as well; be it the Hindus in India, or the Muslims in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

yes, we have, in face, in ancient time, japan learnt all from China, like building, politic system, chinese characters, and costume. Kimono is origined from Chinese Hanfu, from Wu region, now this region is Suzhou, in Jiangsu Province, so Kimono is also called Wufu, means from Wu region.

you are welcome :)

Many people think, Chinese have pigtails hairstyle and wear Mandarin jacket. But it is not true, real chinese costume is Hanfu, which has more than 4000 years, from the Yellow Emperor (Huangdi) period (ca. 2698 BC) to the late Ming (mid 17th century).

19th century, Pierre de Coubertin revived the Olympic Games, which died for 500 years.

20th century, Eliezer Ben-Yehuda revived the Hebrew language, which died for 2000 years.

And 21th century, Chinese will revive the traditional costume Hanfu, which died for 400 years, Chinese were forced to abandon Hanfu by Manchu rulers in1644.

Disappearance of Hanfu

In the year of 1644 Manchus invaded China and seized power of the Han Chinese regime. Then they built a new regime: Qing Dynasty. To destroy the identity of Han ethnic and Chinese culture. Manchu rulers has issued a decree: "Shave hair and Change costume(剃发易服)". This has led to strong opposition and revolt of the Han Chinese. This led to severe penalties and bloody suppression of the Qing government.

"Shave hair and Change costume(剃发易服)"
Huangdi doesn't exist, and Hanfu was worn during the Qing dynasty by women.

The only demographic that were forced to abandon Hanfu was the male scholar/government officials, there are no laws banning Hanfu for women or the common people.

Neither was the queue order a sense of shame as the Manchu themselves wore it and Taoists priest and Buddhist monks were exempt.

The queue became so ingrained in Chinese culture that the revolutionaries had to forcefully cut them off.

In reality Hanfu was lost because of elite emulation, after the fall of Qing some individuals decided to restore Hanfu however the Republicans(who are majority Han) decided to Westernize.

Han Chinese have no one to blame but ourselves.

I think also depending on the society complexity
China is a complicate country composite of so many independent cultures.
The Han Chinese is merged and formed by so many different race.
There is no typical leading culture even inside Han Chinese.

h Asian societies due to their religious nature as well; be it the Hindus in India, or the Muslims in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

I don't against Han Chinese have their own clothes, but this movement is anti-Manchu in nature, many people take part in it are ultra-nationalists,I'm deep worried if those people have more influence
One thing to note, the Qing dynasty never forbidden the Han females to wear their traditional clothes, and also for the elites of Uyghurs and other minorities, the Qing empire also let them dress like the Manchus and Manchu hairstyle, but not for common people.Only to Han Chinese, both the officials and common people should dress like Manchus and should have Manchu hairstyle.

Every ethnic group has its own tradition, since when wearing Hanfu is anti Manchu? Manchus have their clothing, Uygurs also keep their ethnic heritage as well. According to you, Hans can't even wear their own clothes? Wearing a fking clothes means utral nationalists? You Chinese traitor, get the hell out of here.

@Okemos What do you think?

Hans can wear their own clothes,I don't against it,but then I know very well who started this movement, and how those netizens trash Manchus in Chinese internet forums,so it's naturaly for us to suspect there are something else hide in this movement,if they only want to promote their own clothes,I have no problem

What is the reason for this type of fashion/hair? It seems to be unique for China or at least Mongoloid people. I think that I recall seeing a similar type of hair among Native Americans but I might be wrong here.

Not quite the same, but sort of similar

Sushrut rishi, the foremost surgeon of Ayurveda, describes the master sensitive spot on the head as AdhipatiMarma, where there is a nexus of all nerves, and a joint (Sushrut Samhitã 6/71). The shikhã protects this spot. Below this spot, in the brain, occurs the Brahmarandhra, where the sushumnã (nerve) arrives from the lower part of the body. In Yog, Brahmarandhra is the highest, seventh chakra, with the thousand-petalled lotus. It is the centre of wisdom. The knotted shikhã helps boost this centre and conserve its subtle energy known as ojas.

 Trash talk about Manchus? Chinese trash talk to each other every day on Internet for any reason, everything could be the blasting fuse those BS. Just get used to it! By the way, in real life, I don't see any Manchu being oppressed in any way, this is enough. So much for conspiracy of ethnic conflict here, nothing will happen, it's all netizen's delusion. I am quite neutral regarding this issue, Manchus and Han get along well with each other for a long time, never thought even some cultural interests groups could ignite untrust between Manchus and Hans, this is just ridiculous.

Are you Manchu? LOL, ok, I thought you are a Han.

Why are you so sensitive?
I think majority Han Chinese cannot even separate you from Han Chinese.
They will also not do anything harmful to you, right?
Because this movement is started by ultra-nationalists,I know not all Hanfu fans are those Han ultra-nationalists,but many of them.
Their view of history is biased, for example, the Qing dynasty never forbidden the Han females to wear their traditional clothes,I admit the Qing dynasty actually did this to the Han males, the lost of Han female clothes had nothing to do with the Manchus

qing is something pass away.
Now Hans and Manchu are in same family.
I did not see anyone targeting at normal Man people..
