Washington (CNN)It's been nearly 100 days since President Donald Trump announced his new strategy for Afghanistan and the wider region, a strategy that demanded Pakistan do more to fight the Taliban, but Pakistan has yet to take significant action against the Taliban, according to the commander of US and international forces in Afghanistan.

"We have not seen those changes implemented yet," Gen. John Nicholson told reporters Tuesday at the Pentagon via a video link.
"We are hoping to see those changes. We are hoping to work together with the Pakistanis going forward to eliminate terrorists who are crossing the Durand Line," Nicholson said, using another name for the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

While Nicholson acknowledged that the Pakistanis had taken military action against other violent extremist groups, he said that Islamabad needed to act against the Afghan Taliban, which has found sanctuary inside Pakistan since 2001.
"The offensive operations against sanctuaries would be in other areas that we've identified with the Pakistani leadership on a number of occasions," he said.
The general would not say how much time the US would allow for Pakistan to change its behavior before taking additional actions to compel Islamabad to crack down on Afghan Taliban sanctuaries in Pakistan.

"As you've heard our president say, as you've heard all of our senior leaders say, we have got to see movement on this reduction of sanctuary and support for those insurgents and terrorists operating from Pakistan who are attacking our forces and our coalition diplomats and forces, as well as the Afghans," Nicholson said.

The White House recently slammed Pakistan for allowing Hafiz Saeed to go free last week. He had been under house arrest in Pakistan due to his links to Lashkar-e-Taiba, an internationally recognized terrorist group that is believed to be responsible for terror attacks in India.

Nicholson later said that while the Taliban's tactical-level commanders were in the field in Afghanistan, its "senior leadership still resides in Pakistan."
He said the Taliban leaders were "living in comfort outside of the country with plenty of drug money" while the rank and file fighters were dying in Afghanistan.
As part of the effort to make the Taliban more uncomfortable, in line with his new strategy, Trump granted Nicholson the authority to target the Taliban's sources of revenue.
Nicholson said the US and Afghan militaries had recently carried out a series of operations targeting Taliban-linked opium production facilities in Helmand province, operations he said cost the Taliban as much as $10 million in revenue.
He also said Trump's new Afghan strategy represented a "game change."

I really dont understand this, the brave US soldiers and their opium trading Generals went there to fight and distroy Talibans (so they say) then why is it that they compplain that Taliban are resting in Pakistan...do they want to kill them only when they are resting and they cant do it because resting places are in Pakistan...how about killing them when they cross over to Afghanistan (as they claim they know everything about their movement) and attack 300 miles deep inside Aghanistan. Does any memeber of senate standing committee ask their Generals this question...can US general show any data of a real fight with Taliban...I have not heard of any in last 15 years, only the area bombardment, what is the purpose of 14000 additional troops, any fight with Taliban yet? or they are just planning to talk us to death

Fence the border and build the posts, Pakistan is doing same to curb cross border terrorism, stop whining like a little bitch to hide your failures..

I think these Talibs blow themselves up (damage done) before the Americans get a chance to kill them, that's just my guess. That's the only possible explanation for their accusations.

May be their point is, why these Talibs are provided safe havens inside Pakistan in the first place ?

shameless liars why they live paksitan when they can have own country ?

Fencing the border is NOT possible because that will mean WAR with Afghanistan who deny the existence of Durand Line. For them, fencing the border would mean attacking their claim down south that line. Why else do you think Pakistan government (along with the Army) isn't thinking about any fencing at all?

If they cant secure the border, they should stop barking on Pakistan. Period.

Guess what? They're also living comfortably in Qatar, under US protection.

Why should Pakistan get involved in Afghanistan's war? Why should Pakistan commit suicide for an ungrateful foreign government, that thinks throwing a few dollars gives them the right to dictates another nation's policies.

The US thinks its a parent, and Pakistan its child; it has yet to realize that its own stupidity is what is causing the problems in Afghanistan.

Okay I didn't know this. My bad. But you don't have to be rude ?

Don't Pakistan accuse Afghanistan for sending terrorists from their side ? Does it mean Pakistan isn't securing the borders?

Border security takes two nations, one side can't do it alone, it's simply too big of a border. Even with the fence being build, along with hundreds of forts, and massive use of drones, Pakistan is still limited in its capabilities to monitor the border.

Afghanistan, for its part, refuses to cooperate and coordinate with Pakistan on the border issue.

India has fenced much bigger border across various terrains without any Pakistani help.It is even visible from space.Infiltrations from pakistani side has dropped from 2-3 thousand every year to 100-200 due to the fence.

we didnt only accuse, we tried to secure border, first we build border trenches in 2013, we are now fencing border, building forts, installing survillence. other side atleast should do something to stop the movement of terrorists, instead of whining.

Correction, outside of Kashmir, Pakistan and India cooperate and coordinate heavily along the border. Kashmir is the only region where neither side is willing to fully cooperate, and Kashmir is extremely small in size (compared to Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, hell, just the border along baluchistan is far larger), with huge numbers of troops on both sides of the border.
