Top US general says Taliban 'living in comfort' in Pakistan

Border security takes two nations, one side can't do it alone, it's simply too big of a border. Even with the fence being build, along with hundreds of forts, and massive use of drones, Pakistan is still limited in its capabilities to monitor the border.

Afghanistan, for its part, refuses to cooperate and coordinate with Pakistan on the border issue.
Thank you for the sane reply.

A quick question, as compared to Pakistan, Afghanistan has 100 times LESS capabilities to secure the border so you can't expect them to be perfect on their part either. If co-operation is being mentioned by you, won't you agree that providing safe havens to Talibs (which is debatable, but the US and Afghanistan both accuse you for it. No smoke without fire?) equals to 'non co-operation' on part of Pakistan?

Where exactly is Taliban inside Pakistan? Feel free to point out which areas they are located in.

we didnt only accuse, we tried to secure border, first we build border trenches in 2013, we are now fencing border, building forts, installing survillence. other side atleast should do something to support the movement of terrorists, instead of whining.
It all comes down to providing safe havens, I guess (that's what the US is talking about in OP). Correct me if I'm wrong, don't the Pakistani government has soft corner for Afghan Talibs? These Talibs are the same people attacking Afghan civilians and coalition forces there (not to mention Haqqanis). So we're back to square one. Do you think Pakistan should now do away with Afghan Talibs once and for all? Won't that create a better environment?

Thank you for the same reply.

The non-cooperation stems from Afghanistan's refusal to...

A) accept the Durand line as the legitimate border

B) accept Pakistan as a free and sovereign state

The border problem is far older than the taliban issue, and it is one of the reasons why even the taliban, during their rule, started becoming hostile towards Pakistan, near the end of their regime.

As for providing safe havens, let the US designate them international terrorists, and stop providing a sanctuary in Qatar. It is ludicrous for them to ask Pakistan to help them start peace talks with the taliban, and at the same time, clamp down on them.

Afghanistan should not be Pakistan's problem, but it has been made to be so. If the west wants this, they should than listen to Pakistan's demands; the UK is providing a safe haven to one of Pakistan's biggest criminals, Altaf Hussain, and other western european nations are protecting various Baluchi terrorist leaders, all of whom are guilty of mass murder, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and various other evil acts.

Correction, outside of Kashmir, Pakistan and India cooperate and coordinate heavily along the border. Kashmir is the only region where neither side is willing to fully cooperate, and Kashmir is extremely small in size (compared to Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, hell, just the border along baluchistan is far larger), with huge numbers of troops on both sides of the border.

No we don't. Sorry to say. But that's the reason why few guy's were able to reach Mumbai cost undetected from Karachi and attacked us in 2008, it's not Indian investigators who say so, but your own investigators have also found enough credible evidence to establish that.

Mark my words, anywhere there is a big wall or fences, there are always tunnels and ladders to scale them. SO don't be under an impression that complete fencing will be a great help. India especially Kashmir is a living example for that. :p:

that is the reason pakistan supports taliban to weaken afghanistan so that their proxy can agree to durand line.

Durand line is as much a dispute to afghanistan as kashmir is to pakistan.

every Muslim on this earth is a terrorist in the eyes of America (in burma several Muslims killed by Buddhist but they are not terrorists

Only solution is help Pakistan build wall and pay for it.

Whole asia is safe heavens for taliban in eye of usa. If it was safe heaven them why we see blasts in pakistan. May be safe heaven is india how come no blast there? Afghanistan govt is only limitd to kabul what usa is doing there? Now either us as to cut all it ties with pakistan and come to war in which case door of big war will open in asia including china, russia, saudia, turkey and iran against usa. No country wants to fight for another country but no country would like to see usa getting strong in asia either

half of the country or even more in not under the control of afghan gov and the so called Gen blames Pak...i find it ironic

Pakistan/ISI involved itself heavily in the creation of the Afghan Taliban according to Benazir Bhutto, and she approved the funding neccessary for this.
That makes it Pakistan’s problem.

That does not mean that Pakistan fully control the Afghan Taliban, but it certainly means
lots for how people worldwide view Pakistan.
The trust in Pakistan’s willingness to do something about it, is limited at best.
