The usage of the word Afghanistan for the kingdom of Kabul is phenomena of later half of 19th century and it were British who began its usage in their treaties, documents and records. For them every subject and place under the rule of the Barakzai monarchs, was Afghan. They came up with terms Afghan-Turkestan and Afghan-Turks in late 19th century. This became convenient for Muhammadzai kings of 20th century.

There is a country/state by name of Afghanistan but its more of a misnomer. Afghanistan was supposed to be just a geographical region like Dardistan, Turkestan etc. Now keeping this information in mind, i have shared information about True Afghanistan much of which lies actually in the state of Pakistan .

LOL "pathan" may be a proper identity for a majer karachiwala but not for the people of Qabailistan or Afghanistan. Have you ever heard Khushal baba calling himself "pathan" or do you have any quotes which is dated back before the British empire and creation of Pakistan which confirms that pathan and pashtun are interchangeable? Because then we can say it's a proper identity. The right pronounciation is Awghan/Aughan and it's not only used by farsiwan but first of all by Pashtuns themselves since thousand of years.

Sure since 5000 years... just kidding. Awfghan is what farsis call pashtuns. No one call pashtuns as afghans in Pakistan. Neither do pashtuns call themselves afghans but only majars.

There is movement going on to pitch Pak ethnics against each other who live in harmoney unlike afghans who just slaughtered 50 hazara children and women couple of days. To create confusion when Pakistanis ask afghani majars to get the hell out of our country. But its not working. Kalabzai?

People inhabiting Afghanistan have never experienced any state like existence prior to the modern Afghan state.

Traditionally they were the marauders and barbarians of the sub continent much like their distant cousins the Mongols.

The tribal nature of their existence makes it harder for them. Humans have tend to come as far as they encroaching lands in Afghanistan upto the point where peace could be maintained.

Now it is highly possible one of the pashtun tribe of nomadic nature claimed the said region as their ancestral home.

But equating this for an actual functioning state is a travesty of justice to the actual meaning of the word STATE
