And I have explained it a few times, the concept of university in India is different from what it is overseas, which is why Indian universities fare badly in the overall rankings. There are at least 5000 universities in the world, so not being in top 200 is not the end of the world. As far as ranking in specific subjects are concerned,

In India we are seeing a transition. The poor is becoming middle class and the middle class is joining the enterpreneur and rich class. The rich class TATA, Mahindra, wipro and 1000 of others are now competing for global contracts and acquisitions. India is going global slowly and steadily.
