The sad history of International Mother Tongue Day

Making Urdu the national language and not Bengali was not showing disrespect to East Pakistanis. Today the national language of Pakistan is Urdu not Punjabi that is not showing any disrespect for Punjabi.

. .
it was great mistake by a great leader .Urdu was not even the mother tongue of JInnah and most probably only 17% people talk in Urdu yet he try to implement this as the only state language of Pakistan .

That is why he chose Urdu. It was not linked to any particular ethnicity of Pakistan, so it could be applied to all.

well i tell u reality i have gone through alot of discussion and it is reality most of Pakistanies blame our past leadership more than bangalies...

Obviously killing of unarmed civilians on 25th march 1971 was not only a cowardly act but also regarded as a genocide... this is not including the killing of innocent people in the next nine months... I am just wondering what was the in the mind of that times pakistani ruler??? n what they were trying to accomplish... as I personally believe in terms of economical point of view under united pakistan both pakistan and bangladesh would be much better of and even could be a super power with such a huge well educated population... this is needed to mention pakistan was as per with south korea and was regarded as grade A developing country ... where as India and china both were grade c developing country and pakistan had higher per capita gdp then both china and India at that time. I feel sadden thinking where is south korea and china right now and where we are right now including pakistan....

I hope pakistan will learn lesson from this and will treat its every people with equal respect instead of trying to show superiority over a certain group of people as different countries has plan to divide pakistan in to more smaller pieces...

Where they gave false color . its true that through the 52 71 became a fact

many times u need to go through your history ,
i will just quote a single statement of awami leagues chief , that for twenty 24 years since birth of PAKISTAN i was dreaming for separation of bangladesh .... it clearly depicts your leaders were also no sincere in solving issues rather were resolved to break PAKISTAN.

.
Balochistan isn't an internationally disputed territory it is Pakistan's internal matter, if you have nothing constructive to add to this thread then leave.

for u r information even kashmir has been removed from list of UN disputed territories. by u r logic, kashmir is internal matter of india.

Even though Jinnah proposed to make urdu as the national language of pakistan but Liaquat Ali Khan was the main originator of the idea as his mother language was urdu... correct me if I was wring... but as bengali was the language of more then 50% of the people of pakistan so it should have been made as the language of pakistan or atleast not trying to undermine it.

well well well now you are going bit far ,
for your kind information even a more number of biharies and other Pakistanies living in banlgladesh were killed by mukti bahani..... and army shouted on attackers only most of the times. and there were only few other incidents that are quoted by u peoples and u always exaggerate them...
more raps were done by mukti bahani then others ...... i wasn,t willing but u made me to reveal some truths that are surely gona hurt u ..
but better accept these truths too...

You are trying to put an ethnic slant on this. In fact Urdu was chosen because it was not linked to any one native Pakistani group so it lacked any sort appearance of bias. Liaqat Ali Khan did not suggest Urdu simply because it was his mother tongue. This is wholly untrue. Urdu was meant to unify all ethnic groups regardless of language, with no preference given to any group.
Bengali shouldn't have been the national language because that undermined the whole idea of a language free from ethnic restraints. This is the same way as Punjabi shouldn't be the national language today even though it is the mother tongue of most Pakistanis because Punjabi has greater ethnic links than Urdu.

Urdue was the and is the language that represented Muslims of india and all others were ethnic...... it is fact that you cann,t negate

Did he not mention why??? or just gave the statement... If separation would be the issue from the beginning bd would not join pakistan... but some pakistani leader tried to show superiority over the bengalis... even in one incidence it shows disrespect while discussing about the budget pakistani leader allocated budget to renovate toilet of pakistani leader but when 1 bengali leader asked where there are such budget for east pakistan he said you better use banana's skin...

well i think it is better to close this threads .........
but moderates plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz put some check on indian................ that always ruins whole discussion by their some dirty posts that derail whole discussion...

did i support Paksitani leaders , i say they were corrupts and dumb who thought nothing more than their personal interests ..... thay had nothing to do with other PAKISTAN too........ their aim was just to fill their pockets by any means........
but it is also reality that awami league was also not sincere and brainwashed bangalies against rest of Paksiatn.
confess those realities too if u want to discuss past....

but there is no gain in beating a dead horse , what is by gone is by gone so lets look for better future but for it you need to wash your mind, because with such kind of infatuated mind that you are having, good relations in coming futures are impossible.

.
by blaming each other there is no gain ,,,,,
reality is we were out played by some external forces due to our internal negligence and in end it resulted in taboo on our history.
but lets forget that painful past that caused equal pain to PAKISTANIES too because of death and pow of a huge no of SOLDIERS and civilians ..... and even more than that loss of a part ....
so just forget that painful past and look for bright future of both nations.
we are different linguistically but we are in the end one nation ....... MUSLIM nation.. leave past to ALLAH PAK who knows better than any ... lets look forward for brotherly relations...
