The problem with Pakistan's blasphemy laws

But you feel it is right to dictate to others

NO one has the Right to dictate anyone and no one has the right to speak or write something that can hurt a Billion people.

Criticism and Hate are two different things this is what is needed to be understood first.

Those laws are ours and they apply on us and no one else.
Anyone disturbing the feelings of a group of thoughts would be punished because it is not acceptable in any case.

These laws are present to protect the religious integrity of all Religions in Pakistan (Even though the minorities are just 5%) and i am all in for some fundamental changes that the misuse which occurs wont happen again.

You live NZ , try to say something Insulting to Anzac's and you know what would happen to you .

This is not freedom of speech , this is freedom of spreading haterd and it must be outlawed where as the healthy criticism with facts and figures is always appriciated.

I thank ALLAH that Pakistan is not secular.

Secular mean's MADAR PIDAR AZAD.

You r worrying about us not reaching the moon how sad, we went to seventh heaven 14 centuries back.

These people's r more worried about GOD's law, rather than british or american law.

Its ur choice no one is forcing you which law u follow.

If u believe in judgement day, u should know which law will work there.

Go ahead and thank Allah if you want. Freedom of Religion.

If making a Holocaust of innocent people or beheading people who insult religion is "God's law" then why do people like you even bother moving to the "Satanic West?" Why bother enjoying the benefits of Western society? Why not just isolate yourself to a village?

You gave no logical argument about why Pakistan shouldn't be a secular Republic instead of an "Islamic" theocratic government that turns society into complete sh!t. Allama Iqbal and Jinnah didn't want a theocratic government, then why force one onto Pakistan?

No wonder Muslim countries are huge piles of crap. [Besides Turkey :) ]

I bet you believe in Zaid Hamid too, right? LOL.

.
^ Those beheaders are not Muslims anymore so dont use them in your arguments.

. .
^They were the protesters in Denmark of the Muhammad cartoons. pbuh

I think we need to get these lines straight.

If you think that TTP are still in Islamic brotherhood then let me assure you they are not even if they pretend to be.

400 page fatwa against TTP by Dr: Tahir Ul Qadri which was signed by hundreds of leading islamic scholars is in Icon in our country , moreover the Supreme Islamic Council of Saudi Arabia has outlawed all of these Terror activities as the acts of Kufar.

After these fatwas on this higher level all Muslims must do ijma'a on denouncing TTP now its an obligation.

I hope you dont disagree with me on this point , see Maulana sarfaraz naeemi laid down his life for the sake of Saving Islam from these basterds , he was murdered in cold blood for raising his voice against TTP.

You remember before sawat ops Taliban were posing as saviours but soon locals knew who they were.

Son these thugs are politically motivated and use Islam as an excuse and they are abusing our religion to an international level.

If you dont believe this then its sad.

.
WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Where the heck did TTP come in???? im talking about the DENMARK PROTESTS!!

SAVIOURS LOL? I HATE THE TALIBAN.

The one thing that everyone in this discussion either missed or avoided so far is: Jurisdiction.

Jurisdiction - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
1 : the power, right, or authority to interpret and apply the law
2 a : the authority of a sovereign power to govern or legislate b : the power or right to exercise authority

We can assume that all the major moral systems in the world condemn theft. We can also assume that all governments, supposedly executors of these moral systems, have their own agents to enforce laws regarding theft. But do their agents trespass territorial sovereignty in enforcing those laws, even though the moral foundations of those laws are the same: no stealing? No. Territorial sovereignty must be respected.

Religions and their associated moral systems are supposed to be transnational and non-temporal, meaning they knows no boundaries or time limits. The point of the article, even though not explicit, was that somehow the current understanding of Islamic tenets allowed transnational enforcement of Pakistan's blasphemy laws. Those people who carried signs did not read: Behead those who insult Pakistan. The subject -- Islam -- is transnational and non-temporal. Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or Indonesia or Egypt cannot send official government agents to enforce blasphemy laws against Islam. But there is nothing to prevent someone with sufficient religious credentials to exhort muslims worldwide to act on behalf of Islam. That is why we see signs that read 'Behead those who insult Islam' outside of blasphemy laws' territorial boundaries.

You really have to scream that nonsense into my head don't you?

I dont know what's written in these laws, but if some one insult's my beloved Prophet MUHAMMAD (pbuh) and tried burn my holy book QURAN, i will do what ever i can to send that person to hell, no question's asked.

If that makes me terrorist or fundamentalist so be it, could'nt care less.

Narayy Takbir ALLAH HO AKBER.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban also has that philosophy. We call them traitors.

Those laws are the core of our Islamic idealogy and will remain till the end of times.

Pakistan is a dedicated Islamic state for Muslims which allows all other religions to live in harmony but no one is allowed to hurt anyone's feelings.

Muslims would also be punished if they did something discriminatory against a accepted minority.
I would also think the strong lesson of tolerance passed by the Prophet Muhammad, when he spared the very people who physically threw trash on him after Fatah Makkah would also be some sort of core of Islam.

Furthermore I think our religion encourages the spread and growth of Islam. Tell me one person you know who converted because he went like "Wow man, these Muslims are so bad ***, they kill, slaughter and blow people up when something bad is said about the Prophet".

After each act of barbarity committed in Islam's name, you lose, I lose, the Ummah loses. I mean you do realize that because of these laws, we're synonymous with the phrase "crazy nutjobs"?

.
I thought Jinnah wanted Pakistan for Muslims to thrive in safety and prosperity, not as an "Islamic idealogical state"
When people are ready to join the treacherous Taliban (or the Tehreek-e-Taliban) what makes you think they give a damn about Jinnah?

Jinnah had it wrong, they got it right!

. .
Who do you think got the blasphemy law approved in the first place? Mullahs...to make their job easier by creating blasphemy culture.

So what is their job that they want as easy?? and blasphemy laws are helping Mullahs can you explain??
