Because it sounds cool to associate someone with historical places, Jessore, Nadia. But he was a Zamindar of obscure place of Satkhira. I doubt how much of these stories are true without ground evidence which they want to sell as a face of Hindu nationalism.

Just this book says Puja Sangeet. But I don't think these are explicitly religious.

Never Ever, that's was my point. Why in every post people are telling he is Hindu.And people are boasting about Nazrul, though he has much more lesser connection to present BD than Tagore.

Both the writers were connected deeply to the greenery of BD.

Nazrul spent one year in class 7 in Darirampur, Mymensingh. He married two women both were from Comilla.

And Nazrul took part in Bengal Election from East Bengal.. Why would he select East Bengal as his political seat if he was not connected to this place?

I am not saying that Tagore was communal. I just think Nazrul transcended Tagore. Though This comparison is unnecessary.

Yeah While Nazrul wrote hundreds of Shyma Sangeet, Tagore failed to represent the Muslim Bengalis like he should as the most prominent Bengali writer.. That is his limitation and I am not bothered by that. রবীন্দ্রনাথ তাঁর বসন্ত নাটক যখন নজরুলকে উৎসর্গ করেছিলো কলকাতার অনেক হিন্দু অনুসারী সমালোচনার ঝর তুলেছিল। গাধার দল দু'দিকে আছে আপনি নিজে সেটা থেকে মুক্ত কিনা সেটাই দেখার বিষয়।

This thing is not so black and white as you are portraying it to be, Tagore's religious views are still a matter of great debate, as per most he was Brahmo as his father, I do not know any of his poems glorifying hindu Gods either, heck he specifically forbidden idol worship in Shantinikaten, Just cuz Nazrul wrote Shyama Shangeet (which I highly appreciate) you can not expect Tagore to write Naats in response, this is bloody ridiculous, Tagore was as irreligious as it gets in his poetic sense, He was not a MLA or minister that he had to represent a specific section of people, for God sake, Tagore is still the face of Bengali literature don't degrade him like this.

I am not educated enough to criticise Tagore. Though I have Golpoguchho, Gitanjali and All his novels in my possession I haven't read any of them yet. But Sharatchandra is my most favorite author. I will be very happy If I find any story by Tagore written in the essence of communal harmony like Sharatchandra's Mahesh given that He lived in the time when Two Religions were trying to tear Bangla apart. How can he be the face of Bengali literature without addressing the burning issues that affected Bengal?

And many a prominent Hindu writers criticized Tagore during his time, Considered him a lesser writer Than Bankimchandra or Modhusudan. Mohit lal Mazumdar comes to mind.

Bangla Shahitye Musalman er Obodan. In this book He tried to tackle growing Anti Bangla sentiment in East Bengal among Pakistan Supporters by downgrading Muslim Hindu conflict and linking the development of Bengali as a language to the Buddhists and Muslims.
