Neither the will nor the resources are lacking. Counter insurgency operations are always lengthy and need lot of time especially when the enemy is well supported by the third party.

Operations are being conducted in phased manner and all fronts have not been opened at the same time.

I guess one may quote the success story of the Srilankan armed forces operation against LTTE and some of you may know how much time it took them to defeat LTTE.

One may find a lot of material anbout the operations being conducted by the Pakistan armed forces on this very forum.

Pakistan is not an enemy of Taliban fighting in Afghanistan but the the enemy of Indian and US funded TTP which has been inserted into pakistan by these countries to destabilize Pakistan and create a situation that Pakistan is an unsafe place and it should be stripped of its Nukes.

If the thread opener wishes for a serious discussion, then have posts as per the topic.

It would be wise if Indians can refrain from their sarcastic comments as that will result a straight ban going forward. If any Indian wishes for a proper serious debate then most welcome, rest who wish to just be sarcastic stay away or i will make you stay away.

Not a very easy question. You now will also need to ask, which Taliban? In most narratives, there is a good Taliban and bad Taliban. In the Pak narrative, correct me if I am wrong, there is Pak Taliban and Afghan Taliban.

Defeating the Afghan Taliban, does Pak see it as a threat or strategic asset? Currently, the AT focus is on Nato/us forces. Also, Pak will see it as a hedge tool. So, till there is some drastic change in the overall Pak outlook, difficult to see Pak taking any action against them.

Pak Taliban, who are the Pak Taliban? One needs to understand, that the Taliban are not a single group. There are various groups who will call themselves the Taliban. People will keep moving between groups. Its as good as a business for them. Will Pak take action against them. They are trying. Will the action work? Difficult. The problem is not just strategic, but, also social and economic. The main thing that needs attacking is closure of the illegal arms manufacturing units. Can that be achieved? Only a Pakistani can answer that. Personally, I think it is difficult and will take more than a decade to achieve. Once that unit is closed down, how will you employ the people? How will you educate them? Understand that this mess will take at-least a generation to clean. Provided there is a need seen by the Pak strategists.

So to answer your query, area sanitisation can be acheived in the short-run. But, holding that sanitised area and maintaining that sanitisation is a complete different ball game.

Remember LTTE is Kaput and a history in Sri lanka.
Where there is will, there is Highway. It seems Pakistan is not hessitant, but reluctant. Pakistan still considers them as their assets. PA thinks they can be molded, persuaded to fight for a cause in Kashmir, as n when the need be.

can this pl be moved to the pakistans war section please

I think the best way to start would be to study US foreign policies. Pakistan has got some stakes in Afghan taliban and US/India got some in pakistani taliban. It will never end until countries in our region stop using them as a tool of war.

very remote. though personally I want them to defeat them.
