What's new

The new war epic film is a masterpiece ''The battle at lake Changjin''

But that's not what I'm saying. What I said was because Tencent owns games like LoL with minimum China contents, they're more likely to attract Westerners to the Tencent brand. And boom pretty soon all those Westerners are exposed to Tencent related contents like Chinese dramas. I kid u not Weiwuxian is now as popular as Pokemon or Naruto in the West because of companies like Tencent. China soft power building up slowly and steadily.

Yes, now there are a lot of people read Chinese xianxia genre craps. That's including me, to an extend that I buy many Xian Xia genre Chinese PC Game. Like Amazing cultivation Simulator, Tale of Wuxia, Tale of Immortal, Scroll of Taiwu.

Movie like Changjin Lake is just for domestic audience.

Xi and higher-ups in China think current dramas and girly men idols targeting female audience in China sucks (which I agree wholely-heartly), they want to reshape a more manhood culture among youths.

Cannot blame them, its an open secret Xi want to be the president that accomplish something even Mao could not: China reunification, I believe that will happen within 2-5 years timeframe, once China gain peer-level strategic nuclear arsenal vis-via the US to prevent the US from nuclear blackmailing.

From this point of view, the general public need proper mental preparation for possibly a large scale war, if not a global one, in the near future(CCP leaders always prepare for the worst case scenario before taking action), I don't think China/CCP care very much about global populity or soft power at this very moment of history, their most urgent goal is reunification.

Anyway, I have been long on many defense-related stocks since last year.
which stock..only china or +US啊,我也想关注合适买点:-):-)

So Greeks do not play mobile games? Or online games?

It might not be your thing, but it doesn't mean it isn't big.

The French actress is Sophie Marceau. She has French features not Asian. LMAO I've been to France, she looks very French.

Anyways, to each their own. It is normal to only like one type of girl in a homogeneous society I guess. But I've been around every type of race and my preferences change depending on who I am interacting with. It's a matter of exposure.

Im not much in mobile games. Its not such a big thing here

Movie already raked in 0.6 billion USD in 10 days. Need 3 billion USD to beat no 1 world record.

Avatar's box office was $27.98 billion. It only needs $2.8 billion to become the first box office in history.

China's ordinary box office movies show for 30 daya, and high box office movies show for 60 days. It should not be difficult for Changjin Lake to enter the top ten of the historical box office, but it is difficult to become the first. Unless SARFT allows Changjin Lake to be showed for 90 days.

From military and entertainment standpoint of view, the only ambush that is worth watching on film is the one that achieve great victory, either total annihilation or crippling, such as Lin Biao's ambush on Japanese in 1937 and US battle of midway battle in 1942. Both were tough nuts to crack and both demonstrated great bravery and ingenuity.

But this one didn't achieve annihilation nor crippling. It is not fun to watch your own kind to die bravely without much to show for. For the same reason, I never watched any film on Nanjing massacre. I watch films to feel better, not to feel sad.

I disagree. It might be impossible in the Anglo countries where the bulk of anti-China hysteria is coming from. But certainly possible in many parts of Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Africa for China to spread the popularity of its pop culture. It just needs pop culture that has a more universally attractive bent.

Right now the lowest hanging fruit for Chinese soft power beyond gaming (both pro players and actual games), livestreaming and anime is hard sci-fi novels and movies.

Liu Cixin's books won a Hugo award for best sci-fi, and the trend can continue. Novels are a huge gold mine for getting people hooked especially with potential for movie (Wandering Earth) and game (Dark Forest) spinoffs.

Sci-fi is also a great way for people to see the Chinese vision for the future.

Well, the most important thing is that these movies need to feature Chinese hunks so we can get more women.

The Japs can get the creepy White weeb incels.

I have been hearing the name of Liu Cixin for more than 10 years. Anybody else on the horizon?

郝景芳 Hao Jingfang (Vagabond, Folding Beijing)

陈楸帆 Chen Qiufan (Waste Tide)

In particular I'd say waste tide would be an epic near future sci-fi shooter movie on the level of The Matrix.

I hope these ones lead to successful film making. Movie "The Wandering Earth" didn't impress me and the one for "Three Bodies" was botched.

I truly enjoyed a Chinese gang movie I thought it was masterfully executed and it is actully a trilogy and has 3 installments ''Gatao, Gatao 2 and Gatao the last story'' Some of the camera technique used in this movie is great. I use to run with gangs few years back myself and I know the culture and histornics but the way some aspects were captured with camera was miraclous because you can't capture that part with camera and they pulled it off somehow because the director put alot of effort in trying to capture the energy and he put great focus on capturing the vibe example even in the background it is hard to explain. In Gatao the last story the main gangster meets this photographer chick and he enlisted her to photograph the gang party and the run in between him and this chick is chaotic because the director attempts at one point to capture all the vibe happening in that outdoor feast like party because so many sub-plots and conversations happening in the same time. I thought the camera work used there was stuff of legend

Lol you noticed that too?

Man I am telling you reputation counts man

my Pakistani mates in UK have easier time getting chicks than in US

They have a masculine image of Pakistanis in UK while Pakistanis in US have a reputation of being Middle eastern or if you have an accent Indian

Both of em are not good reputations in US

If Indians even have the slightest aspiration to fight PLA in the future, they should watch this Chinese movie and learn about Battle of Changjin/Chosin. If Indians learn how Chinese fought in dire situation and caused 15000 casualty on UN X Corps and drove them out of North Korea for good, they would tune down their arrogance.

Chinese fought and won against USA in -40°C in North Korea 70 years, they can definitely fight against poorly equipped and malnourished Indians in Himalaya today.
Indians never doubted the ability of Chinese soldiers

Indians are enamored by honor and selfless sacrifice of the Peacebuilding National Army and East Hebei Army in maintaining stability of Chinese nation at a time of chaos

Wang Jinwei military exploits are folktales among Indian military circles

Mao, founding father of China himself has taken the first step of recognizing the role of Peacebuilding National Army and East Hebei Army in nation building of modern China

Hopefully Chinese people can recognize their sacrifices too and make movie on East Hebei Army's valiancy against unbeatable odds during Beiping–Tianjin battle

Image counts a lot.

Before Kpop exploded, I did fine dating wise, but I felt like I succeeded DESPITE being an Asian man. Most Asian men were stereotyped as dweebs and since I went against those stereotypes being tall, good looking, well built, etc., I felt like women "overlooked" that I was an Asian guy and made an exception for me. However, since maybe 6-7 years ago when Kpop and Kdramas started to gain popularity, it's become really easy to get all kinds of women. Women would literally come on to me because maybe they saw some Kdrama and were horny for a tall, handsome Asian male lead type. If they were into Kdramas, the game was over. LMAO Women are very status oriented so they are very easily influenced by the media, whereas guys are more just into hot women, period.

In the UK, I've noticed that they stereotype Pakistanis different from the Indians. They see Pakistanis as more masculine, kind of thuggish, kind of dangerous, like how Black men are viewed here. While Indians are seen as nerds who run the small businesses. Whereas in the US, they just see Pakistanis and Indians the same.
