The Indian State Where Everyone Eats Beef

So far Kerala hasn't faced any major problems, right? Obviously nothing is perfect but I believe with near 100 percent literacy rate and good quality education, the chances of a problem occurring can almost be reduced to zero which is
good enough.

We have our own set of problem....... We have several aspects which is red and have lot to improve.....

@nair @SpArK @Iggyyyyyyy
Why do I have a feeling that this thread was created to irk the mallus???

The question is which mallu's get irked by the word Beef???? Barring few most of us dont get irked...... those who get irked wont be that irked in real life......

There are many RSS extremists in this forum from Kerala. They may be also eating beef. Beef consumption is pretty much common across Kerala. It is slightly less in the Northern end where RSS influence (Tulunad) starts. Cow meat and Water Buffalo both are common. North Indian Brahmin Supremacists till date fails to bring the local Hindus to their Gau Matha Golwalkar worship cult (RSS). Even the best of their barbarians(leaders) failed to influence Kerala.

World doesnt revolve around RSS brother . So please dont revolve around RSS :P

Kerala has a major unemployment problem. 100% literacy rate looks good in the paper, till you find out most of the workers in UAE and Saudia are from Kerala
We are talking about violence between different religious groups. Unemployment can be blamed on the ministers responsible for the economic development of the state. I don't think unemployment is linked with secularism.

I dream that one day Pakistan can have a similar or slightly modified version of secularism that Kerala today practices.

.
not just Kerela, there is also Goa (as someone mentioned) and large parts of the north east where it's common. Hell, quite a lot of people from the urban educated populations (Hindus) in the big cities also don't have a problem and eat beef.

It's only really a bit of an issue in interior north India, and that one tragic incident aside, this whole thing is the most retarded political issue, ever.

Violence between hindus or muslims or christians or any other community is very low. You hear about it more, because of the opposition parties. In a country of 1.2 billion, 1 or 2 cases bound to happen. We still live in peace with our minority than any other south asian countries.

both hindus and non hindus eat as article says..

Read this article again.

The whole article is whining of a Christian as to how their glorious, bestest, necter of Jesus, holiest of all dishes -Beef fry- is losing importance, how difficult it is to find good quality beef fry, and how nowadays only 7% people eat beef regularly compared to 60% who eat fish regularly, and how beef in local fiery style is a tradition worth carrying on.

It conveys an opposite sense of what you are stating (though I am sure the author never wanted it that way).

Most of us can read. Most of us can figure out what the article, or rather, its author wanted to convey.

I don't see a reason why this topic has to be posted repeatedly on the forum just to make keralites sound as if they are not Indians. Lolz
Btw have you ever wondered why mallus eat beef and why not the ppl in neighbouring states of Karnataka and TamilNadu ???
They say beef was introduced to us by Arabs and the foreigners who came to the ports of Kerala. Not surprised, we had so many ports through which trade was done to diff parts of the world. Kerala was a sea-gate to the subcontinent for the traders.
Since we maintained a close trade relationship with ppl of different countries keralites are also very tolerant.
What I find ironical is that despite being extremely religious mallus keep their religion to themselves, they don't force it down other's throat. Lolz
This must have been the reason why it was easy for ppl to associate with the communist ideology.
I am sure many mallus(born and brought up in Kerala) would agree when I say atleast one of our best friend is a non-Hindu.
So if it's BEEF that unites mallus then so be it. I have nothing against it.
Being a vegetarian myself I wasn't brought up to look down upon those who eat non-veg. In my family most of the male members eat beef and a lot of other things which can not be mentioned here (gosh!). But then that's how mallus are.
NRI, non-NRIs share one thing in common and that is their liking for non-veg. Lolzz

So chitra , sujatha and unni Krishnan eat cow meat ? I am sure many hindus don't have the same respect for them if they knew this .

Thanks. I didn't trust the article. It is better to ask Indians themselves.

So it is the secular utopia that I dream of.:-)
it has nothing to do with secularism... I dont eat beef does it make me fanatic? I assume you dont eat pork, ... its only when you try to force others you get problem.

This is probably due to the ancient Arab influence and interaction (trade ties mainly but not only) with Kerala and Goa that are millennia old. Later Portuguese (who themselves were greatly influenced by Arabs after 800 years of Arab Moorish rule in Al-Andalus) arrived and others. All meat eaters.

Another clear reason is religion. Muslims and Christians eat beef. A third could be Arab tourists. I hear that a lot of Arab restaurants have sprung up in Kerala. A fourth the influence of communism and secularism in Kerala and in general that part of India being arguably the most developed part of India like most of South India is.

I hear that even the famous Saudi Arabian dish Kabsa has become popular in Kerala, lol.

People from the Arab world, in particular Arabia, have good and friendly historical ties to much of India and in particular this part of India and vice versa. We look forward to enhancing peaceful and mutual ties with ordinary people. I know several people from Kerala and Southern India (Hyderabad etc.) and we get along very well. I have also noticed many similarities in cuisine that Arabia and India share. Greetings from across the Arabian Sea.
the article suggests its because syrian christians who came 2000 years ago..

@Levina @Iggy @SpArK Enjoy the thread.....

Well Kerala we have mix of people, ie 26% of muslims christians and 18%, close to 54% of HIndus and they live together across (barring few districts )...... Eating beef is not a big deal as 44% of the population eat it on a regular basis, I ahve no data of HIndu's eating beef, but there is a significant percentage of Hindu's also eat beef..... Here selling beef or pork is not a big deal, and no one has issues with it....... Yes there are people who try to create an issue out of it, but doesnt get the mileage which like other states...... You go to any decent market, you can buy Fish, mutton, beef, pork, duck is readily available........
Do you guys get "jumping chicken" ?

This may be a Saffron propaganda. The Pariahs and the locals are known for beef eating habits. Nambudiris and other brahmins and some Nair clans may have been not eating beef, but the rest are almost all beef eaters.
