It was carrying a mine & while the laying operation the mine exploded somehow which cause the sunk of this Sub. And it is truth that indian navy was terrified with this Sub, they had to hide their AC far away due to this sub & even after this Ghazi was sunked indian navy still remained scared till the news of Ghazi martyrdom was confirmed.

INS Vikrant was launching air raids on Cox Bazzar(East Pakistan), when Gazi, met its doom at Vizag harbor.

Before the war started Indian Navy was not hiding the air craft carrier but deceiving the Pakistan Navy into thinking Vikrant was at Vizag under repairs( by transmitting spurious radio traffic and ordering carrier spares,etc) where as it was in Near Andaman and Nicobar island at that time.

Indian Navy laid a trap and your submarine(which was trying to stalk the Air craft carrier) took the bait..and met its demise.

Of Ghazi sinking, there are two incidents we are absolutely sure off are..
1) It was laying mines..when it sank.
2) INS Rajput depth charged the place ..where Ghazi ultimately sank.

So whether the Ghazi sank due to mine malfunctioning or rajput's depth charge triggering the mine...it was an Indian victory..right from broad based deception(luring the enemy submarine into a trap) to getting the enemy to impale on its own sword

For one there can be no Pakistani claims on these events ..for Pakistani Navy was not in communication with is Submarine when it sank) and has/had no way verifying or disclaiming any Indian claims.

There are only two version on how Ghazi sank.Official Indian version and Unofficial Indian version.

Ah 'it was the Fear' .. a fool's solace ..what you call fear is called planning in Military terms.. Surprise and deception are integral part of it.
Your Navy was deceived into thinking Vikrant was Vizag, when Ghazi started it voyage on 23rd November 1971, where it was off the coast of Andamans. It was again deceived into believing that vikrant was still at vizag under repairs at start of war..where as Vikrant was a few hundred miles off the coast of E.Pakistan.

If indian navy celebrates their navel day on 4th December or not, still its only because of their honest Generals that we had came to know the Truth About PNS Ghazi. If they wanted they could have remained shut!!! we will never have known about what had actually happened!.
I remember countless examples of them praising our Soldiers Like Major Shabbir Shareef Shaheed etc.Even in one occasion they had crossed all the limits and requested our High Command to award Nishan e Haider to one of our Brave Soldier(Capt. Sher Khan i think, correct me if im wrong).
This is the pure and first class example of Pure Patriotism from the Indian side and in the other side we seemed to be fighting and fighting and fighting ''without even a thinking of Why and for Whom r we really fighting for??''
We r very egoistic Nation sadly.We think that they r our sworn enemies or at least i had no doubts about it.
But still when i see the world, the American,British,Israel shows me; 'what is the face of a real enemy is!!'.An enemy who is cruel,ruthless, arrogant and deadly.

Meeting an accident while operating in pitch darkness deep under ocean under battle condition in enemy territory is one thing, but what about the morons who end up colliding their surface ships in broad day light or the scum bags who end up driving their vehicle on the same path where they had planted mines.....back here we call them....intelligent Indians, since they know how to steer the steering.

A submarine has to be most efficient during war time. They are crucial arm of any navy. You can't justify failure of your submarine by colliding Indian ships.
