You probably did not read the recent news from the German magazine. The Commission found that in the German army fit for combat techniques about 15%. In the Russian army, this figure - 85%. Russia conducts regular exercises with tens of thousands of pieces of equipment and hundreds of aircraft, more than 150,000 soldiers. Europe simply can not imagine how a real attack looks like. Fight with the Bedouins or Negroes and fight with the giant war machine - it is incomparable.
No advantage in the air they do not have. The Su-27 is not inferior to European planes, new Su-30 and Su-35 surpass them. And do not forget that Russia has a total superiority in air defense. It will be total no-fly zone. Without help of Master they will loose in 2-3 weeks. Or even faster.

The combined armies of France, Germany and UK are more than a match for the Russia army. Russia has more tanks but the EU tanks are superior.

If required then there is a division of US troops in Germany with the excellent Abrams tanks to help out.

Russian military has its own air traffic controllers, they can track civilian aircraft, other military aircraft and their own aircraft. Even if a Russian military aircraft has its transponder turned off air traffic control still knows its exact location and altitude.


At the end of the day it is western hysteria, much like western aircraft from the US, Canada and the UK intercepting Russian aircraft in international airspace not far from the Russian mainland. What happens? The Russian aircraft is called aggressors. This would be like Russian fighter aircraft intercepting US and Canadian military aircraft in international airspace off of the pacific ocean not far from the US and Canada and then media calling the US and Canadian aircraft aggressors.

You forget that EU would have air superiority against Russian air-force. Those small numbers of SU-35s will be easily swept out of the sky by the hundreds of Eurofighters and Rafales. Older SU-27s and Mig-29s are not really any match for the Euro-canard fighters

The Russian army is no Soviet Union. I think that in the 1980s, the Soviet Union could have occupied Western Europe if it wanted to, even against the 300,000 US troops that were based in Germany. The Soviet Union had the most powerful army in the history of the planet.

Have you seen the resent reports of the German armed forces? Only 7 out of 43 of their naval helicopters are operational, only 70 out of 180 Boxers are operational, a number of their military aircraft have broken down in foreign countries, ect People over estimate western militaries and underestimate Russia. I am willing to bet that only a hand full of Typhoons are actually operational too. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have taken a toll on a lot of military equipment especially ground vehicles, a lot of tanks, APCs, ect have been hit with IEDs, mines and RPGs.

The real number of operational vehicles is well bellow what some sources claim.


As for "small number of SU-35s" there is about 34 according to Weki which is likely outdated information. There is over 50 SU-34s, several dozen SU-30SMs. Those "older SU-27s" are also modernized to SU-27SM standard the same goes for the Mig-31SM. Russia also has a large number of Mig-29SMTs and Mig-29Ks.

As for "being swept aside" Russia will use its aircraft in conjunction of AWACS and air defenses batteries such as S-300s and S-400s. I do not think anyone is going to be swept aside.

Those comments are just diplomatic speak to give Russia a face saving way to get out of Crimea. We know that Putin is stubborn but if we give him a face saving way out, he may get out of Crimea.

Besides there still persists the issue with oil prices. Even if the prices of oil went back to $80/ barrel, russia would be losing 2% off their GDP. I have seen estimates where Russia needs the price to be around $120 to sustain their growth. And its their fault, they never worked at getting off an economy largely driven by oil prices.
