The dysfunctional megacity: why Dhaka is bursting at the sewers

So, you are stopping people from coming to Dhaka and some guys here are applauding it. Not bad. But, do it, because your formula will certainly stop the water logging in Dhaka without a doubt. I wonder, with thinking like this why the city is full of dusts, debris, muds, drains with overflowing water, sound pollution and all other things that cannot be seen in a civilized world? Why the govt still not asking people to refrain from going to Dhaka? This is certainly the best solution to stop the flood during monsoon.
অযথা খোঁচাখুঁচির বদ স্বভাব টা বাদ দেন .When I already asked you to end this , still why you are pushing? It's not even your thread that I have tried to derail ( according to you) ! Too much perfection can be harmful .
I said that less people mean less trouble . Do you deny it ? Why Dhaka is too much dirty ? Because it has huge population burden , do you refuse it ?
Again you don't have to push further when I
I said if they can decentralized then population will automatically deacrease in Dhaka .
Then why the hell you are wondering that why govt aren't asking to refrain from going to Dhaka ?

পায়ে পাড়া দিয়া ঝামেলা বাধাতে ভাল লাগে তাই না? Now isn't it you who is trying to derail this thread by quoting me back ? Ok do it again, it will go beyond imagination . But we can stop creating flame if we end this right now .
First control every completely off topic discussion and then try policing on me .

Guys, the BD government has an excellent plan RSTP 2016-2035 that will sort out the problem of Dhaka once and for all. I suggest posters read below which details this:

http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/2016/09/21/rstp-stand-now/

No less than 40 billion US dollars(large proportion will be supplied on soft loans by JICA) will be spent sorting out the infrastructure in and around Dhaka. What do you expect would have happened when no less than nearly 40% of BD's total urban population are living in this city of one of the most poorest countries in the world?

Sometimes I think that BD'shis want to be negative as a past-time. BD was very unlucky due to two colonisation of the UK and then the Pakistanis(less severe I must admit to our Pakistani hosts). It also had a very bad political system in the 1990s and 2000s when the BNP/AL league would rotate and not much true development could happen due to this. Now AL are set to be in power for another 5 years and the economy and infrastructure are taking a quantum leap forward. We are also seeing the first signs of true export growth in areas like shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, IT and electronics(Walton is about to sell laptops overseas which no S Asian country has done before).

We just need to give BD another 15-20 years and it will turn into a middle-income country with good infrastructure unless some unexpected circumstance like major war happens.

Yes, you are right. So, in order to solve the problem of water logging the GoB should depopulate Dhaka and they go back to their villages. It is a great idea. You are a genius!!! Who says you talk stupid and derail almost every thread? Your posts are all very objective. But, if possible, please do not respond to my posts.

Yup, there is always a plan. :D As always, too little too late.

Basically $40 billion in BD means $10-12 billion in other South Asian countries...We all know how expensive projects can be there.

We are also seeing the first signs of true export growth in areas like shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, IT and electronics

You want me to post the real export figures of these ? It would be embarrassing.

Walton is about to sell laptops overseas which no S Asian country has done before

HCL used to do that a decade back.

. . . . .
They had a good time from the 90s to 2012. And 'Baalton' haven't even started export of anything. It's always 'to' or 'will's with little realized.

Walton has just signed an export agreement with Nigeria to start exporting laptops after getting export order already from Nepal. Bhutan and East Timor are next.

Walton makes it's own displays and many other components apart from CPU and RAM modules. Similar thing is happening with smartphones and tablets.

BD is building a 40km elevated expressway in Dhaka for just over 2 billion US dollars.
Do you have a cost for something similar being done in large Indian city?

Edit - https://www.hindustantimes.com/indi...0-000-crore/story-VzySasfl169NQB8aSlb0LK.html

So 2GW for 9 billion US dollars while BD spends 13 billion for 2.4GW. Not much of a difference there I see.

Huh ?

The Bangladesh Bridge Authority and Ital-Thai Ltd signed a Tk8,703cr deal in 2011 to construct a four-lane expressway under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) with a condition of 25 years concession period from the completion date of the project to collect tollSyed Zakir Hossain
The government will also spend Tk4,885cr for land acquisition and other managerial work. The total cost therefore stands at Tk13,825cr
The Road Transport and Bridges Ministry has given Italian Thai Development Public (Ital-Thai) Company Ltd, tasked with the construction of the first Dhaka Elevated Expressway, six months to gather funds, after the government had decided to cancel the deal altogether.

The construction work of Dhaka Elevated Expressway (DEE) is progressing slowly owing to fund crisis, having only finished 7% of the work in 6 years.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction of the 21km elevated expressway on April 30, 2011 to be completed by June 2014.

Not the same thing. This one is part of the Dhaka 2016-2035 plan.

This is cost of units 3 & 4. which have already been built.
My link gives the expected cost of Units 5 & 6 which will be built at the same time as Roopur.
