What's new

The crow is white, Bengal is Pakistan

Our younger generation no longer knows nor cares. We wish all the best to Bangladeshi people. If the need arises, we will choose them over Indians. Half of Bangladeshis are neutral about Pakistan and it will grow due to our non engagement.

We don't want to talk about something that happened fourty years ago and has little relevence or importance for our contemporary state of affairs.

. .
That is simply due to a deficient Education System.

In the US ? :what:

Or @qamar1990 were you educated in Pakistan ? :undecided:

No one even talks about Bangladesh let alone hiding behind some sort of narrative.

When it comes to Pakistan every tom, dick and harry who can write eloquently in English has become a self-styled historian, political scientist, sociologist and culture critic all rolled in to one !

It is not about that, this is media we are talking about. Take any media class and the first thing they will tell you is that the goal of all media is not to report facts but to sell. Nothing sells more than controversy.

Anyway to say Pakistanis are misinformed when it comes to 1971 is bunch of bs, ask any bezurg about 1971 and they will say, "galti humari thi". That is about as informed as anyone needs to be.

True but to fair to the author this was an opinion piece; I just don't think that writing a good article ought to be more than just tone and tenor of the words you use but should instead include some 'facts' instead of sweeping generalizations.

But maybe thats just me ! :(

Tu rehndeiii....tu bhiii Amreekiii aur tereiii Buzurg bhiii Amreekiii ! :bunny:

Only I know what really happened ! :smokin:

Khair jokes aside; yeah thats right...everyone accepts that. What we're not willing to accept is that the Bengalis were completely blameless when they had ample PM, Governor Generals and Presidents of Pakistan from their community leading up to '71 nor do I think that all allegations leveled against us can be explained away by 'the West Pakistanis didn't treat us right because they hated us 'cause we were short, dark and had more in common with the hindus then they did' !

It was bit more complicated than that.

Nor do I think that any Pakistani is willing to accept that our boys were a bunch of rapists and murderers prowling the streets of Dacca with machetes in their hands while the Mukhti Bahini were the proverbial Knights in Shining Armor and the countless many Biharis, West-Pakistanis and Pro-Pakistan Bengalis that died in East-Pakistan just suddenly decided to stop breathing instead of being massacred.

.
I'm happy for young pakistanis who can't put this aside and just be friends with bengalis, I have many pakistani friends, and it's great to see that they just don't give a sh*t about what happened, only thing they care is what is occuring right now...

Its alright my East-Pakistani friend; we love you guys too !

Just joking....just joking....don't burst a vein ! :fie:

@Armstrong well most of the blame is given to Yahya and his buddy Bhutto. That being said Pakistani soldiers were not totally exempt, while the numbers were exaggerated they did commit acts of violence and sexual assault against Bengalis specifically targeting Hindus. That has to be the darkest moment in the history of the PA by far.

Yahya, Bhutto and Mujib - No one's blameless in this !

Yeah I'm sure excesses were committed and the ones responsible ought to be brought to justice even if they're dead.

But this must be on the basis of 'facts' not 'conjecture'; there must be a proper fact-finding mission comprised of both Pakistanis, Bengalis and mutually agreed upon International Observers to sift fact from fiction and appropriate the blame accordingly.

One doesn't even condemn a person in the court of law on the basis of conjecture, narrations and articles let alone condemning an entire Nation and its Army.

I find that most Pakistanis realize that we made mistakes leading up to the war in 71.
I mean try any talk show on this subject on the mainstrean media and you won't find anyone defending the actions of Yahya Khan.
People don't believe that it was all instigated by the Indians they just took the opportunity to hurt us in the maximum way possible as your mortal enemy would do.
People in Pakistan have moved on we face new challenges and we don't consider Bangladeshis as our enemies.

. .
What point are you trying to make? My post wasn't meant as a disrespect to Bangladesh, it is to say no one cares that Bangladesh was once a part of Pakistan.
I was just trying to show him that Pakistan really don't give a f*** that Bangladesh was Pakistan once.

The unified Pakistani didn't last long enough that was necessary to forge and consolidate the bond of common nationhood between the people of these two wings. A french journalist once said that apart form their common faith in Allah, the Punjabis and Bengalis were as different as Greeks and Finns. Not only the former east Pakistan was geographically quite far from the western wing, but even culturally the people of these two wings have had hardly anything in common. Even Pashtuns and Punjabis have more differences than similarities, but in this case there is at leas an advantage of geography.

I don't want to be rude, but you have got nothing to tell them what they feel or should feel about this matter. Only Pakistanis themselves have to come to terms with the debacle of eastern Pakistan. Whatever they think about this matter they will never discuss it with Indians anyway.

Strange comment...

Partition with India happened 60+ years ago and Pakistan is still wrestling with the lessons from that...so an event (a second partition, quite massive if you ask me) some 40 years ago has no bearing on Pakistanis??!!!

Also, most countries learn from their past mistakes (read Japan and Germany post WW2)...BD was a Pakistani blunder of epic proportions from a governance standpoint...and for all you know, Baluchistan or NWFP could be the next BD in the making...Shouldn't you be looking at not repeating the same mistakes that you made in the past?
How is the separation of BD not relevant?

The fact that there are still millions of Bengalis in Pakistan shows that the common western Pakistani never had any hatred for East Pakistanis, it was all stupid politics and politicians from both sides trying to undermine each other. But now we have moved on, I wish Bangladesh well. I mean I still watch Bangladesh cricket matches whenever I get time. :D
