TF-X Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircraft Projects

The F110 engine uses afterburner to achieve mach speeds which greatly increases its radar visibility. The F-22 uses the F119 engine which provides supercruise (mach speeds without afterburner), greatly decreasing its radar profile and enhancing its stealthiness.

yes I know that. But also remember that supercruise is also dependent on aircraft design, for example, the F-16XL was able to supercruise with the same F110 engines. Whereas the F-35 which probably has the most advanced engine on any aircraft, cannot supercruise.

Turkish Aerospace Industries introduces concept OKU (Autonomous Wingman Concept)

TUSAS_OKU_Concept_a72117fbec

Turkish Aerospace Industries is developing the Autonomous Wingman Concept (OKU), essentially a Turkish version of MUM-T (manned-unmanned teaming). This concept integrates piloted and unmanned aircraft to enhance air superiority, adapt to changing threats and increase operational efficiency. It involves forming flight formations and task forces for collaborative missions, using technologies like AI, autonomy and communication. The goal is to enhance pilot effectiveness, reduce risk and standardize this concept across multiple aircraft platforms.

Pakistani state company Global Industrial & Defense Solutions (GIDS) and Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ) signed an agreement for Wind Tunnel Test facilities. GIDS will provide Pakistan's expertise to TAI. There are many wind tunnels in Pakistan. The Space Technologies Institute, Islamabad has both Subsonic and Super Sonic wind tunnel testing facilities.

It seems that Turkish engineers will be going to Pakistan to cooperate on codevelopment of products.

Each ANKA-III/IV will take off with two Super Lightning. The Super Lightning will leave the carrier platform before entering the risky airspace. Human-machine teaming units consisting of one or two Kaan, 2 Anka, 2 KE and at least 4 Super Lightning with a total of 9/10 platforms will form small clusters. Each manned jet will operate in the shadow of manned and unmanned SOJ/EA aircraft and integrated with AEW&Cs. Each AEW&C will be able to operate up to a dozen clusters simultaneously. Dozens of unmanned loyal wingmen for saturation attacks can also be dropped from the air by cargo planes. Not to mention very high altitude SAR UAVs, ISTAR UAVs or any other integrated UAV system...

This is a hypothetical sampling, you can increase or decrease the size of the clusters or the total command and control width. My point is: with the current technical advances, it is now possible to safely use such a large bandwidth at a tactical level, in congested and intense EW environments. Developments are not only on the AI side. Many technological thresholds are being crossed. And while everyone is focused more on stealth characteristics of combatant platforms and unmanned future jet platforms, another breakthrough is in areas such as tactical data and data, protocol security and bandwidth, which is one of the main issues underlying the technical capabilities that bring this MUM-T concept closer to reality.

It is a fact that from the 2030s onwards, a major paradigm shift in combat aviation will become increasingly evident. This has the potential to be such a leap in capability that it is quite possible that one day in the future, this new phase will be underlined as important as the transition from piston engines to jet engines. Countries that can access this technological advance as built in house will be the deterrent air forces of the next era.

Minister Güler: About to sign an agreement with Pakistan for KAAN

GM Kotil:

  • KAAN will be able to operate simultaneously with dozen of ANKA-3s.
  • We have been working on KAAN's national engine for two years. In 2028, the first indigenous engine will be installed on KAAN.
  • Various tests shows that radar signal absorption meterial will be used in KAAN is superior to RAM paint used in American F-35 fighter jets.
  • KAAN will be the best and earliest delivered fighter jet in Europe zone.

Europe has two advanced programmes Tempest lead by UK, Italy and Japan and Future Combat Air System by Germany, Spain and France

both programmes are much more advanced than the F35 they are operating

so Kaan has tough competition from 2 very robust 6th generation programs and by nations who have a long tradition and history in advanced aviation platforms

lest not get ahead of ourselves no doubt Kaan is a good project but lest see maiden flight first and then the development

I think Kotil meant the best in terms of when it takes flight. When it goes fly, it should be better than the Rafale or Eurofighter. We don't know yet how the british and french projects for the Tempest and FCAS will look, so its hard to gauge how they stack up, they are still in the design phase.

KAAN will not fall behind it will be continuously upgraded like all other planes. When its ready it will only get better.
