Teri Maa, Teri Behan, Teri Beti, Altaf Hussain at his best !

The stories related to the riots took place in the wake of the partition of British India were penned with the blood of Punjabi Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs. Whoever is saying otherwise is a prevaricator, a fabulist. The Muslims of Delhi were forced to leave their city when the displaced Sikhs and Hindus from western Punjab arrived in the city, but most of them came to Pakistan via Khokrapar border warding off the bloodshed faced earlier by the Punjabis. You are right in saying that very few Urdu speaking people came to Pakistan in 1947, some came in 1948 but the over whelming majority came in the next three decades. I have met many Punjabis who lost their family members in the partition riots, but one will have to strive real hard to find any such Urdu-speaking family. If they were forced to leave then I wonder why almost evey one of them has relatives still living peacefully in India.
My parental grandparents migrated from Gurdaspur and maternal garndparents migrated from Amristar and both families lost half of their members. We don't have any relative left in India because at that time it wasn't possible for anyone to even live in those areas. Unlike the Urdu speaking community which continues to still have relatives in India. For us, its was no turning back, ever.

The bed fellows of Unionists, Congress and British Raj have no right to label the creators of Pakistan as traitors or terrorists.

Altaf created Pakistan? Lol. Joke of the century.

Dare I ask, in what capacity is AH labeling himself or his party as creator of Pakistan???
We can ask the same thing other way around - How can an LEO label as Traitors - well he didn't, see his briefing again --- as well as Terrorist lable is concerned, then hes an SSP, he says, what evidence tells him

He was born in 1953 and Pakistan got independence in 1947

AH was fighting for the independence of Pakistan while being a sperm. :D

----------------------------------------

Someone tell him that there that there are Muhajirs in UK (his country of nationality as per his passport) as well, and lots of them, he should fight and raise his voice for them first.

After he is done there (of course after he is allowed to form a political party there and run it and give speeches in the same way like he does in Karachi) he should come to Pakistan and fight for the Urdu speaking people. All 180+ million will receive him at the airport as all Pakistanis are Urdu speaking and Urdu is the national Language of Pakistan. Urdu was made a national language for a reason after all.

My great grandfather was a deputy collector in Nagpur, our family was ethnically Punjabi and had moved after being a part of the Indian Civil Service. We had to leave our entire estate and even a wing of our family behind but today we are not Muhajirs, we are proudly Pakistani!

Mohajir, a term mainly given to Urdu Speaking people of Pakistan or people whose mother tongue was/is Urdu and do not belong to any other ethnic group (e.g Punjabi, Saraiki, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Baluchi, Pathan etc) of Pakistan. That is why the Punjabis who migrated from Indian side are not called Mohajirs since they were able to assimilate better with the local population. Likewise a Pathan who came from Afghanistan got Pakistani Citizenship will not be called Mohajir.
That being said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a Mohajir and a Pakistani, just like a Punjabi, Sindhi, Kashmiri etc can also be a Pakistani. Problem arises when one group looks down upon the other and tries to suppress them based on ethnicity or region.
Everyone is absolutely correct in assuming MQM to be a political party comprising mostly of Mohajirs. It came into being with the promise of equal rights for the Mohajirs who were being suppressed in the 70's and 80's. People like Altaf hussain took full advantage of their grievances and slowly steered the direction of the party towards their personal agendas.
I can guarantee you that a lot of Mohajirs in Karachi do not support the agenda and politics of Altaf Hussain which has done more harm than good to the people of Karachi.
At the same time I do not think that Banning MQM is the answer. Establishment should take the Clean and Willing leaders of MQM (yes there are some in the Party) in confidence and do away with the corrupt ones. Not an easy task but less riskier than banning the entire Party which can only serve the purpose of the traitors, who will use it to fuel the fire for hatred and destabilize Karachi and Pakistan
I also think that Rao Anwar is a Zardari stooge who acted on orders of Zardari to carry out the press conference, to divert attention away from his corruption and looting....hopefully ISPR remain focused and take him out as soon as possible.

Punjabi Establishment should stop with their crap if they don't want to get abused.

Hats Off to Altaf Bhai for confronting the self-declared GODS in the GHQ.

...says the guy posting from Lahore... :omghaha:

Anyway, whatever the cause is, no one will take you seriously if this is the guy who represents your cause.

The tumor reached a stage where it cannot be treated long time back, Only option now is removal of the tumor, but again who cares in Pakistan? like thousands of times earlier raat gayee baat gayee.

Not only he but each and every politician and policy maker in Pakistan.

So when Imran Khan and his POTI party use vulgar language and discriminate against others its ok? The iq levels of Taliban Khan's supporters are laughable.
Your thought process is ludicrous. What you are say is if "Taliban Khan" can do it, why not us? If he is jumping off the cliff, why can't we? BTW, IK had to pay dearly for his stunt in Islamabad.

This Muhajir tag ought to be dropped by all Pakistanis. It's been almost 70 years, generations of kids born on this soil still insist on calling themselves this. Pakistan was created for these people and us, why call yourself anything other than Pakistani? Let alone this name.

Who decide Mohajirs has to be Urdu speaking living in Karachi? Mohajirs means the people who migrate from one place to another. In this term almost all Pakistanis comes in. But in term of Pakistan, it means the people who migrated into Pakistanis. Why it has to be only Urdu speaking living into karachi and Hyderabad?

Let me tell you, since these politicians don't want you to be part of Pakistan. Don't like you to call yourself Pakistanis. If that was the case there were Kashmiri's migrated to Punjab and become Pakistanis or kashmiries not Mahjirs. There was gujratis who migrated to sindh become Gujarati plus Pakistanis. It could same case for so called Urdu speaking to call themselves laknoi, Hyderabadi, etc plus Pakistanis. But politicians of their representatives didn't allow them to become that and remain Mohajirs.

Mohajir is temproray status which get diluted once time passes and no body want to return.

There are many words in languages that can have different meanings when used in different contexts.
The base meaning of Mohajir is exactly what you have said i.e a person who migrated from a different region. Unfortunately in the Pakistani political landscape this word has evolved to mean the Urdu Speaking community of Pakistan. Good or bad thats the way it is.
I would say instead of holding it in contempt try to accept it and use it as a tool that provides some added information about a person, thats all. Nothing more and nothing less. In the the end we are all Pakistani and Muslim brothers and sisters..
