Again, you get none of this information from any Pakistani, or Chinese sources. Not even by the companies DRDO worked with. Mostly, if not all of these sources are leading back to DRDO them self. CAG is the last thing you should be disputing. And dont talk about transparency, because it's more transparent than most.

I met a director of HAL, retired some time ago, who fumed at the crap going on in this project where there is zero accountability and captive public sector firms that produce various subsystems having zilch responsibility as much of this is controlled by a clueless bureaucracy where retirees having political connections rule the roost. There's so much lack of coordination that no one seems to be knowing what the heck the other departments are doing.

In other words it's just chaos all around - just like a typical government enterprise. HAL needs to be privatized. Now!

Even if you say its just 50%, isn't an achievement, in coming years we can drag it to 70% to 90%. Why dont Mercedes Benz manufacture Tyres for its cars, Like wise if you break up F35 it has components from different countries. Does it mean that US cant make F 35 alone ? Why don't Pakistan, Nepal Bangladesh start assembling a fighter plan ?

Well sir,the fact is that CAG never says that Tejas is only 35% indigenous,in fact in they give the indigenous content as 61% in the annexure of the same report.Its a claim taken out of the context.

CAG says if the use of imported components in the Indian developed & manufactured LRUs is considered,the indigenous content would come as 35%.Fair enough,our industrial infrastructure is not as advanced as developed as some of the developing countries. WE can't expect Team LCA to set up a semiconductor fab facility,can we ?

No one would say Gripen is anyless Swedish,because it uses Motorola & TI processors in its FCS system.

Considering the above chart true, it would be better if you provide cost of each item and then calculate the percentage.

Military hardware and civilian products are different. Civilian products has no restriction and globalization is the way to cut cost and be price competitive but military hardware concern a nation security.

F-35 has its tyre make in China or some super magnet outsource is not becos USA can't make one but cutting the cost down. But when comes to radar and aero engines or avionics , these are core system that needs to be controlled or master by yourself as it concern national security in case of embargo. In this case, neither LCA radar or engine are local made.

India gives so much out to the general public in the defence field it's not even funny.

Tell me one defence establishment that gives near percentage of the indigenous content of any of it's platforms? Other than the obvious parts, like engines, radar, etc.

India should just say it's working on a UAV, put it on a truck for the public mass, and dont speak of it again.

Or make a attack helicopter and hope the foreign designers dont present it decades later.

You wont even know about the French consultancy, if India didnt want you to know. You wouldnt even know the, "percentage", of something, if India didnt want you to know. Please dont talk about India's transparency.
