Tejas grounds Medium Combat Aircraft project

With a single centerline 725l fuel tank, you hardly get any range, especially with such strike loads. That's why I said, it might be enough for interceptions and AAMs, but not for more.

Wouldn't this be the ideal role for a light combat aircraft?

But we did produce SCBs, not a third gen though only 2nd gen..you mean Blisk right? Ok wait at 82Kn wet thrust which it already produces isn't it sort of already ready to power the AURA?
Bro,Kaveri was projected to have 82kn wet thrust but in reality it produced only 71KN wet thrust.Wet thrust means after burner thrust.
Projected achieved
DRY thrust 50KN 49.2KN
WEt thrust 82KN 71KN

Military GT are fitted with after burner to increase thrust output by kicking kerosene directly in incoming hot air from turbine.
Yeah,50KN is adequate for AURA requirements.

Yeah,50KN is adequate for AURA requirements.

So about 150 Kg overweight and lacking by 11Kn of wet thrust since the fractal difference in dry thrust can be covered without any issue..its also passed its last high alt test after its failure in the same

2050 hours of test flight of engines has been taken place so far. 27 flights for 55 hours duration have been completed on testbed IL-76 aircraft as well as 12 km maximum forward altitude and a maximum forward speed of 0.7 Mach No had been recorded.

wet thrust deficient by 11Kn
weight- over shot by 150Kg

Will the blisk fans feed into getting us the extra 11Kn or are they required for the higher thrust variant of 95-110Kn?

What is the thrust of the F-404 variant powering the MK.1, 49Kn dry and 79Kn wet at 1050 Kg weight..isn't the Kaveri already producing around 51 Kn dry and 82 Kn wet at 1235 Kg? So isn't it almost good enough to power the MK.1 NOW?
Little correction here.MK1 is powered by GE-404-IN producing 54/85KN thrust.
Yeah,they are planning to this in the end of 2013.But sadly ,it will remain only as technological demonstater

Development of Brisk fan is for AMCA engine.

How many light fighters out there carry a full load of 4000Kg external stores..had the Tejas remained a light fighter much less get bumped to Mk.2 with 5000Kg external stores..the current Kaveri could have already powered it with very few hitches. But alas......the Jf-17 is rated for 3500Kg of external stores, the AIDC F -CK-1 for only 3000Kg...but we had to go and aim for a good 4000Kg minus the targeting pod..hurrah!

Look like somebody in MOD is following @sancho 's advice that IAF don't want second 5th gen fighter right now.

Kaveri still has serious wet thrust shortfalls and is overweight by more than 150kg.

Are they cancling the program altogether or is inde or IAF still thinking about having an indigenous engine in it's stock, I think even chinois are having some trouble with their WS series engines, so nothing to be upset about!

Come 2020 LCA will be inducted in IAF as a trainer- Good Going-

Kaveri will not power production models of LCA,But next generation kaveri with foregn assistance/help will power AMCA in future.

thanks to farsighted of Chinese Mod and proper funding,Chinese will crack engine code within in a decade.

I thought tejas is a manned aircraft :lol:. It is understandable that PVs and LSPs are experimental vehicle,it will carry sensors which will be monitored by ground station.

The LCA, in fact, gave creditable flying displays during the AeroIndia show in Yelahanka in Bangalore in February this year, and followed it up with weapons firing to hit both ground and aerial targets during the IronFist fire power display by the IAF in the Rajasthan¡¯s Pokhran ranges, again in February this year.

Common man know what is going on. Since LSPs are in ADA control,it will carry sensor and ground monitoring will be done. Only SP series which will be in IAF control will not require sensors. Again i am stressing "tejas" is a manned aircraft.

LCA flown by ground stations? For last 10 years I was under impression that Tejas is a manned fighter aircraft. Boys we are building UCAV.

LCA is flying and conducting it's missions with on boards equipments/ avionics. Ground stations may be involved but only for defining mission profile (as it's done for every inducted fighter sortie) and data collection. They do not fly it from ground. Why some writers need to be so stupid.

Very good decision:tup:, LCA Mk1 and Mk2 must be operational before the trials of AMCA as the data collected from operational experiwnce is most vital for a 5th gen plane to be perfected and technically superior to a 4+ gen plane.

AMCA should not be put on hold, but LCA Project needs to be completed too, so this decision was must
