Teesta woes for farmers

Now India has started stealing water from Bangladesh too??

That's bad!

Nuke India once and for all!
Technichally no,Because we have not signed any treaty with BD yet so we are not stealing anything,Read the thread which @DRAY has shared and read @Roybot Posts and you will get the idea.

Can u provide any official data of river flow of year. ? That would clear many things. I m gonna search it too.
i already given a stat above about water flows of the month in first post, check that

no you are not stealing, you are grabbing

BD also did cheating,so you dont have any high moral ground. And do you have any other source?? I cant believe that India diverted 2600 cusecs more than previous year.
Even if we had we can only get a clear picture if there is any data available of how much total water India received in cusecs.

It does not make sense actually. We all know you guys are going to get drowned in Bay of Bangladesh sooner or later. So even if we 'steal' some, you should not mind!
well in that case you should not mind that if other say Indians are dirty ppl which is really the fact, right ?

BDforever said:
Bangladesh is getting only 10 percent of the water it needs for irrigation under the Teesta barrage irrigation scheme
This is wrong.
10% is the river flow. And not the water.
Supposing BD was to get 20% for river flow then it means the sharing would be out of 80% and Bangladesh would get 40% and India 40%.
You are being mislead.
And there is a reason why Mamta banerjee opposed the river sharing deal. She refused to approve the treaty fearing that the loss of higher volume of water to the lower riparian would cause problems in the northern region of WB especially during drier months.WB's concerns about water security for its northern region cannot be overlooked and need to be allayed.
India is already beginning to feel the strain on its water security given the ever rising demands for more water for its burgeoning population.
Both countries need to develop a well thought out balanced treaty that will enable equitable sharing of the waters of the Teesta thereby enhancing bilateral ties and reducing the possibility of water conflict.

I did read ur post. It just give one sided view. It does not talk about total flow , until one don't know about total river flow can't say anything on the topic. Anyways Bangladesh is free to go to ICJ anytime. And the logic ofhasina not hving spine not stands in such huge topic cause has spine to buy tanks and jets from china.

1. Bangladesh is getting less than 20% of total water, now it is upto how you want to term it.
2. talking about WB ? WB is not meant to have much teesta water, teesta flows largely in BD, you are diverting water and taking it to WB , go check google map of teesta water flow before say something

This is a good read.

.

No.50-50 Split is not the right way to share water.River water is shared according to natural commandment area.India has 85% hold of commandment area that means India should get 85% of what is left after river flow.
What BD did is increased the commanded area by Teesta barrage1 and now want to calaculate things by keeping in account that artificially increased commandment area.
So we told BD to stop and constructed 23 more dams so that we can increase commandment area and then calculate formula used by BD's lol
Read the thread posted by Dray.It pretty much sums up everything.
