'New Petition filed – Arivu opens can of worms in Rajiv case

If only the MMDA performed its task correctly, the larger conspiracy in the Rajiv assassination would have been unearthed and “hidden truths and unnamed accused” brought to book, Arivu said in his petition.

His allegations relate to Chandraswamy, Dr Subramaniam Swamy and Adnan Kashogi — none of whom were probed by SIT/MMDA. If the court undertakes the monitoring of MMDA work now, it would render justice not only to him but also to the nation as a former Prime Minister “was liquidated by a criminal conspiracy which involved several unnamed higher officers and high profile politicians,” he said.

What kind of punishment does people want?

Congress and then presidents were responsible for delaying response for mercy plea for last 14 years. So according to Indian law SC commuted death sentence to life sentence. Now these people already in prison for 23 years. By Indian law they must be released and that's what TN did.

Why Congress and some half baked idiots screaming for justice? What kind of justice they want even after they were tortured with 2 life imprisonment with a fear of execution at any time?

Think as human and with some sense.

PS:

These people are not direct killers of Rajiv. The plotters were encountered in Bangalore 20 years before.

4 hurt as pro-Tamil groups clash with Congress workers - The Hindu

Commotion prevailed outside the Sathyamurthy Bhavan, the headquarters of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC), in Chennai on Wednesday when pro-Tamil groups, demanding the release of convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, clashed with Congress workers.

According to sources, about 100 workers of the Naam Tamilar Katchi tried to besiege the Sathyamurthy Bhavan and burn an effigy of Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday morning. They were intercepted by the police on Anna Salai and were taken into custody.

However, within an hour, members of another pro-Tamil group descended outside the TNCC headquarters and started pelting stones at Congress workers. Those inside the Bhavan also retaliated by hurling bricks at the protestors. The police then had to resort to lathicharge to disperse the crowd

Four Rajiv Gandhi assassins who are serving life terms

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today stopped the Tamil Nadu government from releasing four of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassins who are serving life terms.

The court also said it will decide, within a week, on the fight between the Centre and Tamil Nadu over who can decide on freeing all seven convicts in the case.

"Our intention is not to stop the release. We will lay down guidelines. Every state must be aware of rules and procedure to be followed," said the Chief Justice of India, P Sathasivam.

Arguing against the Centre's plea against the convicts' release, the Tamil Nadu government said, "If we wanted, we could have released these four (who are serving life terms). Why should the Centre rush to court?" The court questioned, "Who is rushing? You or the Centre?"

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's announcement that she would let off the seven convicts was seen by critics as a blatantly populist move ahead of the national election three months away.

The Supreme Court last week stopped the state from freeing three of the assassins - Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan - who were spared execution last week because of an exceptional delay in a decision on their mercy plea.

Tamil Nadu said nothing stopped it from releasing the four others serving life term, Nalini Sriharan, Robert Pious, Jayakumar and Ravichandran, which was contested by the Centre.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said letting off the convicts would be contrary to all principles of justice as Rajiv Gandhi's assassination was "an attack on the soul of India."

The convicts have spent over 20 years in jail. Nalini, who was earlier on death row, was granted mercy on the intervention of Rajiv Gandhi's widow and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in 1991 by a woman operative of the Lankan Tamil separatist outfit LTTE, who greeted him with a bomb strapped to her chest during a rally in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. For years, the case has been linked to Tamil sentiment and all regional parties in the state have campaigned for the convicts' release.

If India decides to piss in the Palk Strait whole Sri Lanka will drown and all Sinhalas will be forced to swim in it. Be respectful, Sri Lanka is just a tiny abrasion in the Indian ocean.
