ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The prime minister’s adviser on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that the dialogue process minus Kashmir issue with India would be futile and not acceptable to Pakistan.

“Pakistan wants meaningful and result-oriented dialogue with India for resolution of all outstanding issues,” the adviser however said while addressing the National Assembly during question hour on Wednesday.

The US President Barack Obama paid a three-day official visit to India on January 25 to attend the Indian 66th Republic Day parade in New Delhi, and for talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The adviser said that there are reports that Obama during his recent visit to India tried to persuade New Delhi to resume dialogue with Islamabad. However, he said, we have not yet received any indication from the other side in this regard.

Sartaj Aziz said that absence of dialogue, hostile statement, negative propaganda and tensions on the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundaries are indicative of Indian intransigence and reluctance to the resume the dialogue.

In addition, he said that Pakistan is working with other countries to impress upon India the necessity of uninterrupted dialogue for the regional peace, stability and development.

“Pakistan on its part is striving to reduce tension with India on the border,” the adviser added.

If India agrees to Foreign Minister level talks, who will represent Pakistan?

The Chief of Staff, General Shareef. He's the de-facto foreign minister and defense minister rolled into one.

The PA has been controlling Pakistan's defence and foreign affairs ministries since the past 5 decades. No wonder Pakistan is where it is today. No one takes it seriously.

Obviously Kashmir is most problematic issue between two countries. Why would India shy away from discussing Kashmir?

What more does he wants in Kashmir?
India is already generous enough to give them sufficient water from the rivers may be india can export electricity which is produced by these rivers.

Water is something that you would have to give. You have no other option. There is no generosity here.

Its not my view its the view of some Retd.generals keeping in view of the future war its worse than WMD but nobody will support them as long as India is successful in stopping another 26/11 and as long as we have a competent NSA like Doval.

And except for Indus water treaty you have other rivers like chenab etc which is not covered under any treaty.

Moreover Indus water treaty is a bilateral treaty like cease fire agreement so if you could breach cease fire agreement India could do the same with I.W treaty.

People of Kashmir have to included in whatever both countries discuss. They have largest stake in this issue. Why should they be excluded? I am totally for including any Kashmiri group who favors India. Why should two governments decide fate of people without consulting them? That would be cruel.
