West doesn’t operate on morals. They are ruthless in their desire for money and power. Unless we are equally ruthless, we can never beat them.
Where were the morals when they invaded and slaughtered millions of people in foreign lands for 500 years and used the natural resources of those lands without paying a cent. To make it worse, they used the labour of the native people for free (slavery).
China must become self-sufficient in technology by using all means necessary. We see what happens in the current tech war when China is dependent on others for technology.
In fact, Western practicality during its colonial and imperial stages of development (specifically British and US) has become major theories that came to be called geopolitics.
Our Indian friend should study the Roosevelt Corollary (to the Monroe Doctrine) to see how practical national interests are legitimated through rhetoric.
Those developing countries need to study and learn how to wrap practical interests in moral rhetoric.
Roosevelt was perfectly legitimating and turning those ideas into cornerstones of US foreign policy, expanding Monroe's imperialism in Latin America to the rest of the world, including East Asia, through perfect rhetoric and discourse.
Now, the few free-minded nation states, led by China, also need to develop such hardened mindset, and develop such discourses. Otherwise, as our naive Indian friend finds it unacceptable, some will continue to mistake others' interests for their own.
I believe all the learned and analytical brains on both sides (West and non-West rising states) know the game played here. The likes of Pompeo can feign ignorant of such reality, but, his own pretension of ignorance of the reality of Western dominance is in itself a game, a trick.
Fortunately for us, we have smart people, geopolitcians and scholars, who will see deeply the nature of international politics, of Western colonialism and imperialism, and the persisting dependencies. This way, pseudo moral lecturing of the likes of Pompeo will create an adverse outcome and will propel us to be more acute in playing the game as it has been played historically.
US elites can comfortably assume all 23 million people on the island of Taiwan as potential collaborators with Mainland. This should keep bugging them all the way.
Am I the only one of the few that noticed that it is not mainland Chinese that are doing the stealing ?
