T90 Compared with Al Khalid

Like some of our esteemed Pakistani friends even equate their JFs to the Rafales!! Some even go further to say the JFs have an edge!! Oh yeah! And a couple even said the PAF is the best in the world! They may be good, but best? :woot: The delusions of some on PDF are spectacular in scope!! :cheesy:

my friend, what have you gotten yourself into @Dazzler :)

Seem like a thread started to milk some information. I am glad that all that is being shared here is information from the internet. May be this is the disappointment that made out OP disappear altogether. :)

Remember, this tread was started by one @ptldM3 who is no where to be seen. I would have appreciated if you could have shown some respect for all the time all these members have spent addressing your questions. There is no harm in accepting that and you wont lose any respect by doing so.

You were saying that Bhisma has 840 HP engine while I said it has 1000 HP engine.

The post number 106 in which I quoted @acetophenol shows I am right.

yes the early Bhishma versions HAD 840hp engine, in fact, more than 150 tanks had this engine which is only now BEING replaced with V-92 1000 hp engine. Still, there is no 1250hp engine in the t-90MS.

Appreciated Sir, just trying my bit :)

you should have simply added "License manufactured at OFB" to remove any misconceptions mate :)
I'll be more careful next time mate:-)

T-90S that came to India were the ones with 840 hp engines instead of the promised 1000hp engines. I am not sure whether if any of them actually made it to service. However However, the T-90S which were licensed produced in India certainly had 1000hp engines. Now T-90M is being license produced.

the one you guys know by T-90M is not exactly is a t-90M mate, rather it is a mix of S and M, with some improvements incorporated from the M version. Still, it lacks the M/s composite reinforced armor module which is why India is inserting kanchan inserts in their t-90s. There are other handicaps as well and Russians have deliberately withheld some technologies which is a known fact.

A) T-90S :- In 2001, India bought 310 T-90S tanks from Russia, of which 120 were delivered complete, 90 in semi-knocked down kits, and 100 in completely knocked down kits. These tanks were made by Uralvagonzavod and the updated 1,000 hp (750 kW) engines were delivered by Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant.

B) T-90M A follow-on contract, worth $800 million, was signed on October 26, 2006, for another 330 T-90M "Bhishma" MBTs that were to be manufactured in India at Avadi, Tamil Nadu. improved version of the T-90S, which India developed with assistance from Russia and France.

In several tests conducted with the latest foreign M829A2/KEW-A2 APFSDS ammunitions were fired from 250 metres against a T-90S lacking the normal built-in explosive reactive armour (ERA) Kontakt-5 (K-5) .The turret proved completely impenetrable, which proved to be crucial in selling the T-90.

Saab's LEDS-150 won the contract in January 2009 for an active protection system for the T-90S Bhishma.

C) T-90M : December 2007 for 347 upgraded T-90M tanks.

The T-90M features the 'Kaktus K-6' bolted explosive reactive armour (ERA) package on its frontal hull and turret-top (the T-90S has 'Kontakt-5' ERA)

Firstly. I ain't a kid. You were still in diapers when I started to grey.

Secondly, we don't compare Tejas with F-22. You must be outta your mind for thinking so. But as I mentioned, some of you compare the JF with the Rafale! And that little youngster, is a huge joke of mind boggling proportions.

sorry mate i dont buy marketing gimmicks. Still, let me put in again, the initial batches of t-90 Bhishmas were delivered with the 840hp engine with an option for 1000hp version which was NOT ready for production back in the day. When it was, India went for it. Regarding the KEW-A2 being hit at 250 meters and didnt penetrate, prove your claim and rather not post the same old unsubstantiated story.

Oh God , you and your pretty imagination, care to prove proof that Indian T-90 comes with lower then 1000 HP? or take back your words ( their are multiple links & sources )

just for your knowledge ,

The BMPT was unveiled at the Ural Second Exhibition of Armaments and Military Equipment held in Sverdlovsk Oblast, Nizhny Tagil, Russia, in July 2000. It entered into service with the Russian Army in 2005. ( BTW way after ready it was tested for 3-4 years) before enter into service.

The BMPT is powered by a V-92S2 diesel, four-stroke 12-cylinder, multi, supercharged diesel engine. It produces 1,000hp (736kW) at 2,000rpm.

Even uneducated can inferred that BMPT was ready and tested and indicted in 2005. Other is not like PAK which show tank without engine and then when inducted after few years with engine. lol
