T-129 Atak & Turkish Attack Helicopter Programs

T129 transmission is still italian,

apparently this project is getting serious, do we have so much money two conduct 3 type of attack heli project? or we are just trying to escape from limitation of license agreement of ATAK I?


unlikely the whole body structure of the above is not the same as the T-625, from wheels to hinges to the fuselage shape.

I personally expect more a light armed multipurpose helicopter model (maybe like the AW-139 armed)

it was discussed before, 2 years ago, we were not sure about ATAK-2 or upgraded ATAK. now we can say both :) . dont think it is an armed Gokbey, there is no possibility.

this heli would use gokbey rotor and transmission and ATAK I sensor and weapon suit. the reason is cited my previous post.

I was about the expect the same,but then assumed it can be total misunderstanding of T625 as T629. But then again,it will be either armed -military version of T625 (morelikely) or entirely domestic version of T129.
Then again, why it follow name convention of T625 but not T129? Which makes your point is accurate.

With Temren missile and Orka lightweight torpedo projects, we will start to produce all helicopter based ASW / ASuW systems within maximum domestic level. From sonobuoys or dipping sonars to Aesa radars ,all navionic systems began to enter into Aselsan product range also.

A domestic carrier helicopter platform by TUSAŞ can follow this process. Medium multi role / armed scout / naval helicopter. Therefore, the T625's armed reconnaissance model can also be a step forward in the transition to naval aviation.

Creating common platform for primarly ASuW, ASW, Surface Surveillance, MCT, Over the Horizon Targeting needs and Secondary SAR ,MEDEVAC, Troop Transport, Specialist Team Insertion, Close Air Support, Freight Transfer & Vertical Replenishment and Utility Support . It could be main helicopter of future Turkish navy.

ps: An example of the same MTOW class as the T625 platform and it using almost the same engine and transmission set.

I think It will be heavily modified Atak.

Btw, The things coming from Italians are landing gears and gatling gun. Both of them are being developed to replace them.

tai made an agreement with italian company for transmission production. I believe T129 also use italian transmission. We wouldnt need an italian company for t625 if we are able to produce transmission for t129

The deal contains production of some parts related with transmission. The transmission of Gökbey is said to be domestic as platform itself but It seems Turkish subcontractors doesn’t have enough knwoledge to produce all sections of transmission. Actually, the transmission was provided via Italians at the beggining of serial production but With an additional deal signed between Italians, The workshare of transmission was also received under the responsibility of Turkish institutes. To gain this knowledge, SSB started magnesium casting technology in order to make most critical gear case section inside the country. With experience gained in Atak program, Turkish institutes designed the transmission of Gökbey.

i had a conversation with ATAK pilot at teknofest. He said there is no EDH or B1 anymore all helis are upgraded to B1,5 level, that means they couldnt reach B2 level yet but more than B1 level. all helis are able to launch UMTAS IIR now.
