Su-30 vs. F-35

why would you celebrate someone getting banned from a defense forum

He was a racist, he had some very volgar things to say about Pakistan , India, and Russia, he was also the biggest idiot i have ever come across, he tried to act like he knew everything but it was obvious he didn't know jack and he used offensive language.

F-35's advantage:

1) Stealthy
2) AESA

Su-30' advantage

1) more agile and maneuverable
2) can carry more weapons over longer ranges and integrated OLS.

well, having better radar and having first look first shoot means i rather ride in a f-35 any day of the week

Hi Guys,

I was browsing around looking for more info on the F35 and somehow I stumbled upon this forum.

First off, let me apologize for my idiotic American friend. Most Americans are good, hard working people who do not harbor hatred or anger. Just very poorly raised children with bad parents.

To address a few issues, when it really comes down to the best aircraft one need only look at the pilot. For example, the P51 had something like a 14:1 ratio but that was mostly due to the Luftwaffe being down to only young and inexperienced pilots.

However, during WW2 in the Pacific the best fighter was the F6F Hellcat which had a 19:1 kill ratio. (Good pilots, very badly armored Zeros) Yes, the F-15 has never been lost in a fight and only one F-14 was lost (Iranian pilot, out of ammo/weapons, was shot down by of all things, a MIG-21). An F-18 is quite capable of destroying anything with a great pilot. The same can be said for Russian aircraft with great pilots.

The technology that has been integrated with the F35 makes it a very potent platform that in the right hands, should pretty much dominate anything it fights -- except against extremely good pilots. Also note that dog fighting is pretty much a thing of the past. There won't be intricate close up battles anymore but mostly BVR fights and thus the importance of low radar detection.

I think this "chest thumping" about brands of fighters is simply pointless. When it comes to 1v1 fights, it's usually the better pilot that gains the advantage. Nowadays, it's going to be the smarter, well trained pilot who knows what to do with the tools (s)he has to win the fight if they ever get to a face to face battle. Odds are very low though.

And yes, I am totally in love with the F35 (being a former F/A-18 mechanic). The way it looks, it's capabilities and how it will eventually be used (hopefully the right way, not the wrong way like Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan) but that does not mean I am "homer" in this case. I simply like the way it looks and the way it has been designed.

Cheers!

Cheers fighterfan. Totally agree, a technologically capable fighter is only part of the picture. How they are deployed and how they are piloted matters just as much.

What is the weather condition What support is available to each side (ground based radar, AEW&C, SAMs etc)? What avionics suite are the su30 carrying? What altitude are the different flights at? What arrangement (split into how many flights etc) and formation are the f-35s in? Where would the intercept take place and from what angle (including the approach of the su30)?

Paint a full picture of the conditions of the fight before you ask the question.

Nice point!

It would be better that the US bought more F-22s and spend more on buying more F-35s.....that would help bankrupt the US economy faster LOL. Anyway, now that China can make her own engines for Su-27 and J-10, as China's economy grows over the next years, China can afford to build more 4th gen jets to overwhelm US small number of 5th gen jets. The goal is if US has 100 F-22s near 500kms near Chinese territory, China should have 400 J-11s to counter them, similarly is USA has 400 F-35s near China, China should have 800 J-10s to counter them. By 2025-2030, more than 1000 J-10S, J-11s as well as 100+J-XXs can help defend Chinese airspace from US airpower.

Not likely...Because in order to 'overwhelm' you have to first detect.

First off, it's highly doubtful there would ever be a military conflict between the US and China. Even if our political system is distinctly different, we both benefit from each other.

Secondly, given the ability/rate that F22s are shown in simulated encounters, you will probably need more than 400 J-11s. The F22 is crazy powerful and if they had F35s with them it would take some very elite pilots to dominate the air.

Third, it would probably never be an air superiority fight. It would probably end up being mutually assured destruction.

Fourth, if it ever did come to that, the US would use Aircraft carriers. Probably all seven active ones. In that case they'd definitely have to deal with F22s, F35s and B2 bombers -- all with very low observability. That's not to say they can't be detected but odds are they'd be firing off the first shot.

Fifth, one thing I hate about our Country is that most other Countries (well at least the citizens) always want to make it a US vs the World. I hate the US's position on that stance and I hate that other Countries frown upon us. Granted a lot of it has to do with our Country playing "World Police" which is none of our business. I didn't agree with Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan (grated, terrorism is the point of this) or Iraq. The only conflict I agree with is Kuwait. In that case we were ASKED to help and support an Ally country from a very aggressive and malicious dictator.

Otherwise, I think it's in our best interest to take care of ourselves and help only when asked. In this way we do not alienate other countries and help work on happy relationships.

From a technical standpoint I agree that a lower RCS, at this stage, is more important than engine capability, weapons load, and manueverability. It seems that today's air battles are all about "see first, shoot first". However I would be interested in knowing how stealth fighters will engage each other. Would this bring about Within Visual Range combat once more?

SU 30 is just a peace of Crap and nothing else and moreover it's baseless hipe created by Indians about it that it is mighty, it's this it's that blaaa blaaaa and mostly unappropriate things related to it spread total nonsense.

the india sukhoi-30 mki can carry twelve air to air missiles ,has a combat radius of 1500 km ( without external refuelling ),its radar detection and tracking range is huge ,it has canards and thrust-vector control which gives unprecedented maneouverability ,israeli and french avionics ,R-73 short range missiles which can be fired from off-bore-sight position ,R-77 active radar homing missiles ........it easily outclasses the pakistani f-16s :tongue:

@FIGHTERFAN
want to know why it becomes US vs world in every forum
becoz US has killed more innocent people in this world than any of the factors including terrorism put together.
i cant imagine hoW US came to the decision of dropping nuclear bombs...gosh man they wer people.
US believes world is better without some countries
but rest of us believe world is better without a single country and thats US.
JUST GIVE A THOUGHT

This thread should be retitled as SU-30 vs F-22!
